My gsx in on a ptt twin disc, not sure which disc as far as metallic or organic the owner before myself purchased the clutch. It has about 20k miles on it and its starting to slip. A few local knowledgable dsm'ers around my area are suggesting to go with an act 2900 set up bc the car is my daily driver, and apparently the twin disc dont seem to last very long. Like i said before im not sure whether the clutch has the metallic or the organic disc's in it. Can anyone with experience with these give me some insight to which route would be best for me. The car is capable of making a decent amount of power....i hope around 600awhp or so and its a 2.3l so its gonna make some decent torque too.

twin disks, and pucked clutchs do seem to wear out quick when daily driven, reason being the limited slipping during normal driving isnt what they were designed for, however I would suggest keeping the twin disk, if you are making the power you think you are.
I had a act2600 clutch before the ptt, I could launch the car once, then the clutch would heat up so much/fast it wouldnt wanna shift till it cooled down. pm me with more specific questions, im at work now.

I would think your best option would be to replace the friction disks in the twin disk you already have. It should hold better than most any act setup. You would also have to buy another fly wheel. Twin disk clutchs are mounted to their own brand-specific pressure plate. If your not sure about replacing the twin disks yourself, im sure ptt rebuilds/refurbishes them. Ild suggest asking ptt what combination of disks will best suit your needs for grip and longevity. Seems the best/ cheapest rout to me.... and thats what dsm'n is all about :)

^^^ Good suggestion. Especially if you are driving this car everyday. The twin disk will be much easier than the 2900 which has alot of pedal pressure. BTW, the best thing to do would be to park that thing until the weekend and buy a Honda for daily commute. Just my 2c.

thanks for the replies! my dad actually is fixing to get a truck and im hoping to get his old car which is an 01 maxima for a DD...just not sure when this is gonna happen!

i went on ptt's site and didnt see where to go to order new ones can you post a link by chance? it would be much appreciated!

Also be sure to not make it slip much because the twin disk clutch inlcuding PP, disks, and everything is so much less mass than a regular clutch it can't absorb the heat well and can be ruined by slipping too much. That is one reason it is not recommended for DD. If you hit heavy traffic it gets too hot.

You definitely don't want a 2900 they are garbage and will make your car run really slow times. They just CAN'T shift as fast as even the stock clutch and they are harder on your drivetrain.

They will hold the power put at what cost? Definitely keep the twin disc. Also did you install a pedal stop? Did you use the Izuzu slave cylinder?

I bought the car with it in there so im not sure about the pedal stop...it does have an isuzu slave cyl though. Should i go organic or metallic, its my DD and i live in downtown columbia
