proper way to dispose of coolant

What is the proper way of disposing of coolant. I drained + flushed and added some new stuff when I replaced the thermostat and the upper and lower radiator hoses.

I need to dispose of it legally...
 
Check your local dealership or mechanic. They "recharge" it these days, and the bigger shops have a machine that'll do the job. They should take it for free. And if not, like Dave said, your local city corporation yard will.

Ah, the days when they paid us for crankcase oil......
