Can someone quickly explain to me the proper way to fill up with coolant, and burp the system?? I dunno how to do it...

TIA.

Solution
pour some into the cap till full. leave cap off. start the car and let it run until it reaches full operating temp. The thermostat will open, and the water level will go down. Now add more coolant till full again. Done. put cap back on.

ok thanks. I have been having a problem with my system that past week or so. I think i know what happend tho. My radiator cap was bad and it was flowing to much coolant into the overflow tank and blowing it out there. Now i can't see water in the housing. but the overflow tank is full as it possibly can be without leaking? What would u do if u was in my case?? Anyone.

Obviously you need a new rad cap. I recommend a Stant brand. When you fill the system use a 50/50 mix anti-freeze solution. After you get it warm and full put the cap on and fill the overflow to the upper line (line on the side - don't overfill). Then go drive around 15-30 minutes to get the pressure up and to normal temp and so air will purge to the top. Shut off and check overflow level. Leave over night to cool off - Do not take off cap. While it cools the system should suck any needed coolant from the overflow. In morning remove cap and check level. If low repeat proceedure. If it's always low, check hoses etc. for leaks.

30% antifreeze is better for summer, as water cools better than antifreeze.

Use distilled water from the grocery store in the cooling system.

I've never burped mine, I just let the engine do it itself- fill the system, take it for a drive, park it and fill the overflow tank a bit past the "full" mark. Couple of times and the system's "burped". You can also squeeze the lower radiator hose to pump the air out.

ok i will try everything u guys just said! Hopefully it will be ok. I just hope i don't have a small HG leak. i might try to re-torque the head bolts.

LOL well thats what i thought. I always heard when a dsm blows a head gasket it dosen't just leak a little. When they blow a HG they BLOW a HG.
