I just picked up my car up from the transmission shop. they rebuilt the tranny with the ipt overhaul kit, re-worked valve body, and 3800rpm torque converter. When I tried brake boosting the car it wouldn't reach 3800 and would just pull through the brakes at about 2800rpm. I also gradually gave it gas instead of mashing the pedal. Is this my brakes or am I supposed to floor the accelerator to prevent pulling through the brakes? thank you

What PSI are you at when you start to move? In Comparison w/ your old torque converter?
It's very well your breaks are now your weak link. Was the reworked valve body and TC both from IPT as well?
And It's really right in-between flooring it and gradually giving it gas. Remember the longer you are at a dead still break boosting, the hotter and more wear on your transmission.

I have only tried this once and I did not notice ### psi the car starting to move. Next time I try I will try different techniques such as pumping the brakes, revving the car in neutral to build more vacuum, using the emergency brake, and perhaps mashing the pedal even harder than I already have  .
The brakes are pretty old so I plan on upgrading those before the track opens in the spring. Which reasonably priced brake pads and rotors do you guys recommend? I don't want to spend a fortune on brakes. I also heard that some performance pads need time to warm up before they begin to work properly which could be a problem at the track. I'm thinking of just putting in some factory pads...
The valve body and torque converter are both from IPT by the way :rocks: .

I found it best to wait until the guy beside you stages both of his lights. Then stage the first lights pump the brakes and start brake boostin at about 1/4 throttle and then when you stage the 2nd set then do full throttle. When I do this I see about 14psi off the line.

Did you try pumping the brakes while you where revving the car in nuetral? You will feel the pedal suck down to the floor.

On our autos, we go WOT while on the brakes. We had a car that has presision scm 61 with a 3800 stall and we can get it to build about 10 psi on stall.

You'll never go anywhere against me then. I always wait for the other guy to at least 1st light before I do 2nd light. Track courtesy.

Hell i'm running 20 psi and can get the wastegate open at a stop, only for a split second though because i know its not good for the trans. Stock converter, only shift kit and end clutches. I usaully go about half until i start to see boost (just habit) then wide open. I like seeing the 4 little black marks that she leaves. Launches pretty hard for an auto.
