Alright here's what happened. Took the car out to the track on friday since it has been awhile and have done some work to the car. The first run was a 16.28 at 90.3 mph and I spun the tires nasty off the line. The second run was a 16.01 at 91.6 mph with no tire spin. Also both times my 60ft time was about 2.8. I would like some ideas on what techniques to work for my launch so I can drop that 60 footer. Any help or ideas would be great.

practice practice practice

When i used to have a gst i would hold the rpm at like 300-3500rpm and slip the hell outta the clutch (well i guess i was really just riding it) and see if you can get the car to drive off fast without spinning or hopping. If you are wheel hopping, then you know you are just on the edge of traction/no traction, so you are close to getting a perfect launch.

What kind of problems should I look for. Also would lowering the tire pressure help some.

Those Falkens are not helping you at all. The 615 tires are meant to be road racing tires so they have a stiff sidewall. When drag racing, you want a soft sidewall. Also, if you don't have the money to buy new front tires for better traction, how wide are your front tires? Wider equals more traction out of the gate. The only thing the 615's have going for them for drag racing is that they are a softer compound. So to maximize this you should go a good length burnout to get some heat into them so they will stick more (less wheel spin) and net you faster 60 foot times (depending on how you work the clutch). But before you do this, you would need to lower the PSI in them first so the increased heat doesn't actually harm your times from being over inflated.

The tire size is a 225-50-16. I thought doing a burnout would do me more harm than good with anything but actual drag radials or drag slicks I could be wrong though. Thanks for the responses keep them coming.

Yeah, that's pretty narrow. Well about the burnout. You don't want it to be long long. Just enough to get heat into them so they are not stone cold and the tread blocks won't grip the pavement.

What was the stock size then. These seem quite a bit wider than some of the tires I have seen on other Eclispes. I know 225 is the width so how much wider can I go. I also know 50 is the sidewall hieght so how tall should I be running.

225 is a good width for stock sized rims, I would have tried to get away with at least 55 for the sidewall though, that way you can drop the pressure some and those wide tires will get wider and grip better.

stock sized tires for 16" rims are 205/55/16, when i was fwd i was rollin 225/55/16's and i think the best 60ft i pulled was like only a 2.3 or so... I know i did used to outlaunch all my other fwd friends though! Im sure there a lot of people that pull way better short times with their fwd's though.
