I have a 1991 GSX, i just bought a rockford amp, and i am trying to find a hole in my firewall to run the power cable through tot he battery but i cant seem to find one, anyone who has done this before, i need all the help ossible.. thanks ...peace

I don't know first hand on a 1G but on the 2G it's right below the batt. on the passanger side of the firewall. Also some people tend to put it through the steering bushing, or just find a place that is clear on both sides and drill through. Just Make sure that you put something around the power cable so that it dosent wear on the firewall over time (not a good thing).

Where the big ass Shifter Cables come straight thru the Firewall from the console & Shifter. Virtually all the penetrations have Rubber Grommets that Seal the hole thru the Firewall...

I've heard using the shifter cable grommets is bad. It moves the cable out of optimum placement, and binds the cable somewhat. I just ran mine right under the trottle cable place, drilled it cause there's nothing there (check anyway) and bought a grommet at the auto parts store. Ran it through the center console, and under the carpet that goes under the rear seats. Works great.

thanks for all the suggestions but i found a hole between by passenger side fender and the glove compartment, therre was a grommettt there already, so i just pulled it through, thanks for all the suggesttions.....the hole was behind the batttery and it goes through to the fender, i had to take the fender wall off, and i found the grommett that goest through to the glove and i just pulled it throuhg, thanks for all the help..peae :thumb:

Is that the hole with grommet behind the battery where big factory harness goes through already?

Fender wall?

You have to take the fender off. Which involves taking off the lower front ground effect, and about 10 bolts that hold the fender on. then you can see the splash shield and how to get it off. takes about 15 minutes to get it on about 30 to get it off ;-)

Yeah, I had mine off due to an electricall short, tracking wires down on these cars is a PITA. I probably should run my sub wire through there... Mines still ghetofied. Wire running under the weather striping on the passengers side... LOL
