Hey guys, I was out working on my car today (97 gst with a 91 6 bolt swap) and I've got a problem that I was curious if anyone had any ideas on how to fix it. First off my car wont keep an idle with the maf plugged in. second off I can flat rev it all I want but when I go to drive it and I start to accelerate it just falls on its face, cuts out and almost dies.. Any ideas?? Thanks Guys!!

Might need to post some more details on the 6 bolt swap.

Did you just do the swap? Did you wire it correctly? Running DSMLink?

Has it run fine before?

It has ran before and it used to run really well. I recently put on a 16g and it ran really well. Then I changed the intake manifold gasket and my problems seemed to start after that. Ive checked and double checked all the connections so I'm not sure whats up.

check all of your seals and couplers, mine did the same problem and i figured out that it was a $2 hose clamp :) it could just be getting to much air somewere

Thanks alot guys!! I'll go double check my couplers. How can I tell if my maf is bad tho?

haha probably a no brainer if i thought about it but brake booster?? where is this line at?

Boost leak test it, and pay extra attention around the intake to head gasket.
If your problems started with the gasket swap. It seems obvious to double check everything you touched when doing that job.
Start with the boost leak test and go from there.
Tip, Go to the dollar store and buy some kids bubble maker stuff.. Use it instead of soapy water or any harsh chemical.. You want bubbles, You will get all you will ever need to find that leak.

Test your MAF with a digital multi meter. And the info out of your manual, Or a search here at DSMTuners.

i think its the maf, im running a translator and when i plugged my stock maf in it did that, plugged in my translator and gm maf it was fine

Of course it did it for you:tease:.... you have a translator and plugged the stock maf into it?!?!? Both will not work togheter. He never said he have a translator so his stock maf in his stock harness plug is supposed to work well..

Thats not the maf, something is hooked the wrong way in the intake system.

You brake booster line is the wrong way?

brake booster?? how would that effect his problem?? i have never heard of that

first do a boost leak test. that could be the only problem. the maf will be telling the ecu one thing but a leak past it will make it run way to rich causing it to "fall on its face" after the boost leak if its still doing it check the maf. im gonna put money on its a leak tho. like dougr said chech at the gasket. if u need help let me kno i canl end u a hand:thumb:
