pretty much stock and running 18 psi....is this possible?

I just installed my Blitz DTT and before I installed my TurboSmart MBC it was measuring 18.1 psi. This puzzles me because my car is pretty much stock. After I put the MBC on with it cranked all of the way down I'm reading 18.8 psi. How is this possible? I'm just wondering if the boost guage if off because 18 psi is A LOT. Any suggestions as to why this is behaving this way??

The spring might be caught somewhere?

you should be able to go much lower than that. Where did you tap the line for your boost guage?

And does it spike to 18 and then drop like it should?

It may be that it is just spiking to this because I've been going off of the peak hold reading. I'm almost positive I tapped the line in the correct place bc I've been told it is correct. Also, I was reading 18 psi before I put my MBC on.

got everything figured out. thanks for all the advice. now on to the next project. exhaust, any suggestions?
