18 psi too much?

I just got my turbo on last week and had it tuned with s-afc, but my question is is 18 psi too much for my mods? I have 550 injectors, 190 pump, 3 inch turboback, air filter, evo gt exhaust manifold, evo o2 housing, greddy rs with upper piping and front mount, hallman pro mbc and the other basic stuff, just wondering if i should turn it down and if i would turn it down should i get it tuned again. thanks
 
I dont have a data logger, sorry. I was just thinking of turning it down to like 14 or 15 psi because it is my daily driver and having it retuned.
 
That depends on what kind of fuel you put into it. If you're on 91 or better, it should be fine.

But yeah, post some logs and people will be able to point out any possible knock that occurs. Also be aware that if the car was tuned to run on 18psi, it won't be any more economical to crank it back to 15.. the compensation will still be there for the 18 flow. And a logger should be one of the first things you buy, IMO, right after a boost gauge.

Do you have a wideband? How did you tune it without a datalogger?

If i turn the boost down i will have them re-tune it, and yes i do run usually 93 octane, i didnt tune it, a tuning shop by me street tuned it. I plan on getting a wideband very soon so they can tune it better but for now it seems like it runs really good i just dont want the boost up too high being my DD you know? thanks for the fast replys, actually tomorrow i will see how much they can get me a wideband for.
 
I would get a datalogger before you get a wideband. The wideband is a good tuning tool, but it can't give you the information that the datalogger can. 18 psi is fine for a daily driver if the car is tuned properly.
 
How are dataloggers in terms of use are they easy to use? Im not very good with electronics/tuning thats why i had it professionally done but i will deffinately look into a logger. How much do they usually cost? and can you recommend a good one? thanks
 
I'm currently using the logging software provided with www.pocketlogger.com I would check it out atleast just to get some good information. I know there are some people who have free software for logging, or something similar. For ease of use, the logger I have was just plug and play nothing hard at all. I had no idea what all the logger could do other than I needed one and now after much reading I know how it all works and what to look for and tune for. Definately get a logger before any other mods.
 
I also used Pocketlogger when I had the Safc, and I still use it to tune other people's cars. It's very easy to use and it comes in handy when trying to diagnose other problems as well. You can get a lot of support in the tuning and engine management forum, when you run into trouble trying to tune your car.

If you're on 93, you're fine at 18 with 550s. Plenty of breathing space, provided a good tune.

I'm guessing that the shop likely has an ODBII logger and used the trims and narrowband peak to get a rough tune. Not the best, but better than just randomly guessing.

You can get a cheap WBO2 for about $250, not including installation. I'd personally go with the AEM UEGO or Zeitronix ZT2.

Loggers aren't hard to use. Generally you have a 'start logging' button, then a 'stop logging' button, and it asks you where to save the log. Being able to make sense out of what data is captured can take a bit of time to learn. On the up side, with a quick question like this, you usually can post a snippet of a log, and it'll give more experienced DSMers some insight into what is happening, without needing to be there.

A wideband with logging abilities is going to cost you around the 400 mark but if you really want one I recomend the lm-1

Seriously get a logger and just learn with it. I had no clue how to use one a few months ago and now I am working on tuning my car myself. Just take it slow and read alot here on the forums.
