Hey guys, I have all the parts I need and am ready to start cleaning the block surface for the head gasket install. I am going with the oem composite gasket and arp studs. I have read that most people use brake cleaner/gasket remover with a razor blade. My biggest concern is keeping the gunk out of the water/oil ports on the block. If anybody has anything that would help me with that please post it here as I could not find anything regarding that with my searches. Thanks!

I've used paper towels and a shop vac. I put piece of the paper towel in the holes and then just use the shop vac to suck up all the chunks. Once it's clean use the vac on the ports to make sure nothing slipped by the paper towels.

+1 paper towels work well. Just make sure you use a vac of some type to get any tiny towel pieces out of the holes.
