Practice and 6 bolt engine when I buy a 2g body.
I'm still very new to the car scene. Always loved the look of the 2g eclipse. When I learned the GSX was powered by the 4G63t and AWD I fell even more in love with it. Did research on 4G63t's cuz I didn't know if there was a difference between the engine in the Evolution vs. GSX. Learned there was the 6 bolt and the 7 bolt. Sounds like the 6 bolt is a better engine and I see its possible to swap it into the 2g so I bought this in the hopes to learn about these engines and then one day buy a 2g and do the swap. I have some good friends helping me but I really want to know more since it is my car and they actually don't know much about the engine. One is a Honda guy and the other a Rotary. Overall In the words of Ricky Bobby- "I wanna go fast!" Its a dream in my head a white 2g GSX built for the strips but I am a do it yourselfer and I need to first learn to reach my goals. Lastly/ Technically first I want to go start with 400HP. Did oil change, spark plugs, gonna do a timing belt (honda friend said hks). He also said a DSM link and we should be able to stay with stock internals and turbo. Suggestions?

Front end has a sort of Road Warrior vibe. So the car is just the wrapper essentially for the engine you want to transplant to a 2G? What sorts of things are you going to "practice" on? They are similar, sure, but working on a car usually costs some money, and has an end goal. Even simple things like adjusting a clutch or bleeding brakes only makes sense if you plan to drive the car, to assess how well it worked, and whether you need to modify and repeat the process, or move on to the next "thing" on the list (which there always is). You haven't added much content here, so I'm just presuming from the title. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good advice here if you engage.

There are many good upgrade paths in the technical forums on this site. It’s a system approach, so plan first, then purchase and install. Don’t get hung up on sexy billet whatever unless that’s your bag and you have money to suite. 400hp seems attainable based on what many folks post. Can be done with 6 or 7 bolt, and each has pros and cons. The first thing, with both learning your mechanical skills and making progress towards your goals, is start with basic maintenance, do the proper diagnostics, and focus on getting the car running well in stock form before pushing for increased performance. Added power will ruin an ailing transmission or axles. And poor breaks or suspension can just plain kill you if their not up to the task. But it is a fun hobby, so get basic, decent tools, a factory service manual (downloadable on this site), and dive in for some greasy hands and bloody knuckles. Don’t get too discouraged about mistakes, because even the “pros” still make them. They’ve just learned how to recover faster.
Cheers!
