Powerband of HKS 272's?

I just recently aquired my 2nd DSM. This car has HKS 272 cams installed. I was just curious as to what the powerband of the cams are? Ive done a few searches and even looked on the HKS website but it doesnt say what they will rev to.
If it helps my car has a 6 bolt block, Mahle .20 over 8.5:1 forged pistons, 1G rods, SBR stage 3 ported head, ARP headstuds, HX35 turbo etc etc.
Any help is appreciated.

I'd say the powerband is from 4000-8000ish when degreed correctly.

Awesome thanks for the help. So far I've only spun the car to around 7,000 but it seemed like it was still pulling. I just didnt want to over-rev the car without knowing for sure.

I agree! You can get set of springs and retainers cheap and spin it safely to 8k.

Ive also heard that you dont have to degree these cams, is that correct? Good cams should not have to be degreed?

Ive got a slowboy racing stage 3 head with good valvesprings and retainers.
Ive also "heard" hks cams do not need to be degreed, but thats just what ive heard.

Yes they can be installed straight up.

I wouldn't rev it past 7k unless you are positive it has after market springs in it! Last thing you want to do is break a spring and destroy the head and possibly worse!

Agree'd, he said she said is not very reliable. I would take the valve cover off and check, and if your puzzled, take a pic and upload here, and someone can verify them I am sure. Also, yes HKS 272's are drop in cams, however, you will reap a great benefit by degreeing them.

Thanks guys. I am 99% sure it's got good springs in it. Its a SBR stage 3 head which comes with dual valvesprings and titanium retainers. It couldnt hurt to check though to be absolutely positive. Ill take the valvecover off this weekend and have a look. I probably wont rev past 7000 anyway, this car has to be my daily driver for a while and cant afford it breaking. Wish me luck .

Those cams will rev right up to the rpm where your engine blows!!

As far as what their max power range is THAT would depend on your specific engine mods. But for some general info on them you can't beat the cam tests that AMS did back in the day... AMS Infamous DSM Camshaft test | HKS | Crower| Jun | Web | Eagle Talon | 4g63 Cams

No cam NEEDS to be degreed, you do that to any cam to KNOW where your intake and exhaust events occur. Again, varying or adjusting those events depends on your specific engine. That's part of 'tuning'.

Keep in mind that the turbo selection will have just as much of an effect on powerband as the cams. Probably even more.
