So my power steering pump, cooler and reservoir were out of the car for a long (long) time and I've got it all back in and back together... 2 questions.

1) is there a preferred brand/type of power steering fluid that works best in these cars, and along the same lines is there anything I should completely avoid.

2) is there a procedure on how to back fill and prime the system to remove air and avoid bubbling/foaming when the engine (someday) starts?

Fill the fluid making sure not to go over the "full" point on the stick and let it set for a bit. Start the engine with the cap off and slowly turn the wheel lock to lock to release and air that may be trapped. Top it off as needed but be careful not to overfill or you'll have a mess.they're usually not to bad. You also can pick up a MightyVac which is a pump used to draw air from the system and do it all in one shot.

Got it... factory service manual calls out Dexron-II but technically Dexron-III is backwards compatible.

Thanks again,
