Wow that looks nice on that VR-4. Anyone see the new fast and furious tokyo drift? There is a car that has a chameleon paintjob that I like. It goes from gold to red to bronze to black or something. Its at the part where the chick is going down the hill in her rx8 its like the third or fourth car back.

I've got a Red GST atm but I'm going to paint it 350Z Alloy Silver. I just wish I haven't heard such horror stories about Maaco which is making me want to go ahead and spend $3,000 for it to be done right.

a macco paint job really isnt that bad if you are willing to do a little work yourself. If you can do all the prep work and wet sand after they are done you can get a decent paint job for bargain prices.

You will have to remove all the trim from the car and If the factory paint/body is still in good shape you can scuff all the shine from the entire vehicle with a scotch brite pad and then tape everything off that you are worried about overspray on yourself. Basically all you are doing is paying them to spray it since they do have paint booths and guns which many of us are without. Then once its finished you will have to get some sandpaper (any good paint shop can tell you what to use or you can look into any of John kosomoskis how to books) and you will have to very carefully wetsand and rub the finish until there is no peel or runs left in the paint.

Problem is that by the time you figure in the amount of work you will put into all the sanding, scuffing, masking, and removing parts most people would rather just save up $3,000 to get it all done. But for someone that is willign to put the elbow grease into prep work and finishing its not that bad to pay to have them spray it. Most idiots can spray a car the best paint jobs come from the amount of prep and finishing.

Anything other than gray out there? haha Anyone have any photos of Pearlescent Paints on cars?

Anyone else got good paint ideas and photos? There has to be somemore good colors out there.

I'll post my pics when I get the car back from our body shop...I went 2-tone...black/cf top and the bottom is a custom paint we made up to match a chip I had seen..

I think we called it inorganic yellow sprayed over a silver mist base. It looks freaking sweet. I'll post Friday or Saturday.

personally i always liked this color if i had a turbo spoiler and 97- 99 rear bumper which i may do soon.

ohh yea, if u really looking for a decent paint job there a guy i know here that does it at home for about 800, full color change minus the engine bay.

Here's some local guys with Supras. I really like the white color. It's called Lexus White Pearl. I don't know if it's the color that's awesome, or the car :)

I had mine repainted about 2 years ago. It was done at a cost of about $3600. I altered the factory color enough that it is a noticable difference, but nothing abnoxious. The factory color is called Metallic Cayenne Red. What I did was have them remove the white from the paint and substitute a very coarse metallic in it's place. This darkened up the paint and added a lot of sparkle in it's place.

It's kind of tough to see the difference in a picture, but you can really tell when you looking at the car in person. The "transformation" took almost 6 weeks and included replacing all black molding, recoating the wheel wells, door jams, under hood, trunk, etc.

To this date, the only imperfection in the paint consists of 2 small stone chips!! I guess that's what you get for only driving it 500 miles a year.

Here are the during and after photos:

Did you do any sanding/masking yourself? Or did you just drop the car off at the paint shop, get it painted, and drive away?

just got done with all my body work on my 97 gst, which has been a slow long process, spraying it tonight. its gonna be two tone, jet black on top, red copper mettallic (nissan color on murano's 03-06) with a silver pin stipe from the same year nissan seperating the two colors. i'll post some pics when im done, wish me luck.
