Post pics of your Wrapped FP Manifold here!

That thread is interesting and begs the question Who has a coating that has been on with no chips for 8 months or so????

I also had my FP manifold coated at Swain, and at first it was great.

I went the same route as wishihadatalon and I sprayed it down with hi-temp black spray. Now a year later coming up through the black are these little silver looking balls that you can chip away with a metal object. We kinda assume that its the "white lightning" coming off the manifold, and its some how coming up through the black.

I can say one thing, the coating itself is great, but its hit or miss on the longevity of the coating. I dont drive the car much anymore, and I bet the manifold only has maybe 2k miles on it, and maybe a dozen track passes.

I hope to get some more track time on the car this summer, so hopefully the coating holds up.

I went and wrapped both my manifold and o2 housing today with DEI wrap. Used a 50' x 1" roll and had a left over of about 10'. It's my first time wrapping anything and I believe it came out very well. I soaked the wrap first and then kept it taut. Overall, I think it helps. It's still almost too hot to touch, but I can at least touch it for a second without searing off skin. Water also doesn't flash boil when it hits onto the wrap.

I went this route to help stop cooking alternators as I've gone through 5 Autozone ones already. I'm now using an OEM unit and hopefully it holds up well.

As for the turbo-to-manifold bolts, I'll deal with those when ever I would be required to separate the 2. I find it easier to just remove everything as a whole than deal with holding up the turbo from underneath and fiddling around with the bolts.

Just got done with mine. Not the best job but I did it with it on the car haha.

Waiting on it to dry, then i'll spray it with the black DEI silicone spray. Then I will put my JMF heatshield on top of it after I spray the bottom side with the silicone spray.

Next, to install a turbo blanket. May wrap the first bit of the downpipe too.

That's turned out nice considering you did it on the car. Now I'm thinking I might redo mine on the car too. Good shit.

I asked FP about coating their manifolds and they said they advise againist it.

I was wondering if this would come up with all the mentions of coated FP manifolds going on here....I too heard the same thing from FP, don't coat them, they have a tendency to crack when coated....and that bums me out, because wrap causes rust where i'm at, since It rains a lot and I don't drive the car a lot in winter so the wrap gets damp and has started to rust the manifold.
Anybody talked to FP more in depth about this?

I wish I would have got a pic of mine before I burned straight through it. It took me about an hour and a half and it came out nice. Heres a pic of it after it burned through.

Thats the DEI titanium stuff. I sent them an email with a pic of it and they asked me how much hp I had then never emailed me back.

The heat wrap I am trying to use has a darker, almost metallic finish to it. With sparkles or metal flakes in it. Hopefully my stock mani doesn't burn it up, because I do not plan on applying black hi temp silicone spray after heat wrapping it.

I also heard FP advised against coating their manifold.

I plan on using a heat shields. Then heat wrapping the j-pipe, external dump tube, and possibly the downpipe.

Just as a warning, i don't advise you wrap your manifolds. I pulled my burned up wrap off and found that my manifold cracked on top where all the runners come together. These manifolds are known to be solid and I blame the wrap.

Maybe because everyone wraps the heat wrap wet and as tight as they can get it. I don't see the point... I don't see giving some slack doing anything negative.
