I was thinking of getting it coated, then wraped, then have a heat shield on top of it to clean things up a bit. The wrap doesn't look all that great so a good heat shield should be a good finishing touch. That would keep the exhaust gases moving pretty quick.

This is mine still wraped.

You can wrap them in a way to still look good (IMO), you just have to take your time and plan things out. It also helps to wet the wrap to loosen it up a bit which allows you to pull it tighter.

I dont like the white coated look, it looks funny to me, I am a big fan of heat wrap though, always gives it that race car look. If you dont like the tan looking wrap they have it in black so it is more suttle.

And the benifits of wrapping outweigh the "ugliness" anyway, cause since it cuts down heat underhood and keeps it inside the manifold it stays hotter, which inturn speeds it up (already been covered), but if it is speeding up exhaust doesnt that help out your spool time as well? It may not be by alot but a couple hundred rpms can make a difference.

What do you guys think of getting a manifold coated and then heat wraped?
It would be a little much but the underhood temps would be cooler because of the double protection right? Also since its a quality cast manifold it shouldn't crack right?

That is the Swain tech coating "White Lightning" Arguably the best ceramic coating.....But it is white:rolleyes:

Correct, it comes white. That color is a light gray. I applied high temp engine paint to it and have not had it come off at all. It has been on the car for over 2 years without issue.

But..... Now I'm stuck. I can't find a way to wrap it without covering the bolt holes..

Coated by JetHot, been holding up perfectly since FP came out with these manifolds (Believe I bought in the first batch) I'm not concerned with underhood temps as its my winter car.

After doing more research I would have went with Swain Tech. As far as the white color, well it is true ceramic, but you can get additional coating for color.
I've tried thermal wraps and found they can lead to cracking in milder steels and hold moisture. And for the people using black, it won't last long and turn to tan. I've found that wrapping a downpipe. (I do have my ic pipe wrapped to try and protect from possible radiant heat).

That looks quality. Whats the eye rolling for?
I'm just humored by the fact that the best ceramic coating comes in white.

I am about to send off a piece to be swain tech coated myself and was wondering if I could paint it a different color after it came back as well. So you just used a regular high temp engine paint? Something like the 2000 degree engine paint they have at advance?

Yup that is all that I used.

Do I need to bake the mani now that's it's wrapped? How? I cleaned it with brake cleaner then sprayed on some black VHT 2k spray pain then wrapped it. This morning I looked at it and it's still very wet from soaking the heat wrap. Should I let that dry on it's own or bake?

With the SwainTech ceramic do they coat the inside of the manifold, turbine housing, and o2 housing? If so how well does it coat? 0.015" is real nice insulation compared to the other cosmetic coatings.

No coating on the inside. Not so sure I would want that for a few reasons. First, this stuff has texture like 60 grit sand paper so not exactly the best for moving air (its worst that the casting texture). Second, just in case, as in just in case it starts to fail. I have seen some coatings that are applied to the inside and outside of a manifold and I believe gixxerdrew has it on his time attack car. If you look through his old project log you might be able to find what it is.

Update:
It think I'm satisfied now. not bad for my first time wrapping eh?
So are there any benefits to baking or not?

Does anybody have the parts numbers for the hardware to bolt this badboy up?
I already have ARP studs n washers & nuts for the head and turbo bolts and washers for the evoIII but I just noticed that different bolts are needed for the Fp mani.
