Well, I purchased a transmission from a Japanese parts importer here in virginia back in february. I have been driving on the trans/transfer case for about 2 months now with absolutely no problems, including a trip from VA to GA, with an "average" speed of around 70 mph. However, when I bought the car, the rear diff made noise, and I recently found out that the noise is called backlash. I also recently ran the serial number on the transmission which read: w5m332wqnk with the letters/numbers uj4896 below it and found that it comes back to a EVO GVR4...and supposedly has a rear diff ratio of 3.909 and is "incompatible" with the USDM rear diffs. My question is this...If the rear diff ratio is wrong, and my center diff. should have already went :: poof ::...why could I make the trip to GA, hitting over 90mph at some times, with minimal vibration...and no problem with the center diff. Could this be caused by excessive play in the rear diff, or simply could the rear diff ratio be the correct one for the 1ga eclipse? As of now it wouldn't be a concern, but I am looking to replace my rear diff in the near future. Thanks for any input!
