When I first got my dsm about 2 months ago It would boost great. This was before I had a MBC and I know it was boosting pretty hard cuz the way it pulled. Now at 15psi I can hear something whistling and the car starts bogging slightly. It feels like it wants to keep boosting but its somewhat of a very very light studdering. I have a feeling its my throttle body gasket or elbow gasket because I took the throttle body off to clean up. Should I make a boost leak tester first or should I just use silicone as gasket and redo the elbow and throttle body? Could it possibly be because I teed it from the BOV instead of the j-pipe? I dont know if its a boost leak or the bov. It only happens after about 10-12 psi.

Boost leak tester is a turbo DSM's best friend. You should always do a boost leak test when ever you messed with intake/vacumm. :thumb:

you'll be better off just making the leak tester from like Vfaq.com or something like that, that way you pinpiont exactly what it is and fix it. if you try to guess you may end up just removing parts that may not be needed to be fixed.

thanks... I guess I have no other choice but to do that... I wanted to take the easy way out but I think i will regret it. I'll let you guys know what happens tomorrow.

I bought the parts for a boost leak tester but i dont know if I bought the right coupler. Is 2 inch ok for a 14b or is it supposed to be a 2.5 inch?

I had boost leaks when I bought the car. I made a boost leak tester and imagine my surprise when I found that it leaked from 11 different places! Make sure to check these spots:
Around compressor housing on turbo
all couplers (duh)
bov (my 1g leaks like there's no tomorrow)
around bov flange
both mating surfaces of the throttle body
throttle body shaft on both sides
intake manifold mating surface
injector seals
dicsonnect and cap the nipples on your intake manifold and bov to eliminate leaking from your pvc valve, FPR, and boost controller (although I've seen it leak from the vacuum fitting on the FPR, so watch this too)
