Hey guys well I got some days off work because of snow, so I decided to replace my clutch with an oem one. Everything is back together but I think I might have done something wrong. With the car still in the air, I started it put in gear and all of the sudden I hear a grinding noise. At first I thought throw out bearing, but it only does the noise while in gear. I decided to check the axles, bearings, etc, and everything was fine. Now I did notice something, when I spin the drivers side wheel with my hand I can see something (through the fill hole) move up and down, withing the differential housing. It'll move up, hit something and stop, when I turn the wheel to my left, and move down, hit something and stop when I turn the wheel to my right. It seems like this is what's causing the grinding noise.

You sure you didn't drop anything in there while the trans. was out? Your're not missing any bolts? When you rotate one wheel does the other side rotate (in opposite direction or same direction if lsd). I took mine to get a clutch in one time and they managed to drop one of my rear motor mount bolts in my diff. It cracked the the casing on the diff.

No everything seems fine. It's not leaking oil or anything. With the car on and in neutral, I rotated the driver's side wheel and no more noises. But with the car off I get the noise. I figured out what the noise was while in gear, it was the rotor hitting the studs due to normal play. But this other clunk I get with the car off, is worrying me. Let me clarify things a little. The noise that I was getting at the beginning before I started the thread has been resolved. But is this diff clunk with the car off normal?

So you are getting a clunk when you put the car in gear with the car off? Are you disengaging the clutch when you do this?
