Hey guys, couple of questions, i going to install my evo3 exhaust mani. and port my turbo. My question is when i go to port my turbo when removed do i remove theexhaust housing from the intake housing, or just take the whole turbo, and if i do is it a good idea to change anything inside. Also what bout the metal shavings can they fall in?

It's a good idea to remove the turbine housing from the center cartridge. You definitely don't want to get metal shavings into the center cartridge if the turbo has been removed, as you could damage the turbo.

It's easy to remove. Just remove the v-band clamp to the left of the turbine housing and it should come off. You might have to lightly tap on the housing to get it off. Just be careful not to damage the turbine wheel when you're taking it off. You could do this with the turbo still attached to the car by the way. You just need to have the o2 housing unbolted.

As Bert mentioned, be careful when removing the turbine housing so as not to rub against the turbine blades, try to lift it off as straight as possible. Also notice that there is a small dowel pin on the compressor side that mates to a hole on the turbine side which is used to reassemble the two housings in the proper orientation.

Just remove the clamp around the housing, and put a screwdriver in between the housing and the center cartridge and LIGHTLY tap it all the way around until you can easily pull it off. Make sure you pull it off straight to not bend the fins.
