porting vs. new manifold

i have researched many things that say the 2g manifold is strong enough, it just needs a porting job. however, i have found just as many counterpoints that say both 1g (the ones notorious for cracks) AND the 2g exhaust manifolds crack and i should upgrade to an
EVO III manifold ..... anyone have bad experiences with stock manifolds? what does everyone think i should do?

Get a 2g manifold and port it (for the cheap route & yet effective). Or you can get an EVO III manifold or SBR manifold...

It all depends on how much $$$ you have to burn...
