I've read that you can use a 1G throttle body gasket to port the manifold so you can use the 1g throttle body, and that you can do this carefully inside the car, so my question is doesn't that mean you don't have to port the other side of the manifold/ port head? Or do they both already have to be ported?

Is tuning required for the bigger TB?

You can do it in the car but it is not recommended. Take the 30 min and pull the manifold off. It will be easier to port and less danger of ingesting aluminum into the engine. If you do it on the car, stuff ALL kinds of rags into the intake to block any chips from going in, also have someone stand there with a shop vacuum to suck all chips out as soon as they are cut (in real time)

That being said, no tuning required to run the 1G TB (keep in mind., 500WHP is easily attainable through your stock TB so don't expect a noticeable difference in the swap)

Hope it helps!

The only bad thing I heard about doing this is that you have less control over your acceleration, being more jumpy. Ideal for hp but still, not sure. I think that's actually why Mitsubishi changed it

Would it make a difference using the 60mm with a 1g Intake manifold that has also been ported on the head side?

Just curious, I have both in my basement but I have been looking at a couple of smim lately.
