Does any one have the best procedure for installing the Polyurethane motor mount bushings? I have the complete kit with all the bushings and wanted to get some ideas or to see if someone has or knows the best way to remove the old black bushing with the new ones. Its in a 2g eclipse with a 6 bolt swap, Thanks for all your help in advance.

youll need a hydraulic press to press them out. or you could burn the rubber out and then cut the metal ring out.

to install the timing belt area one and the tranny one i had to use a drill and drill to weaken the rubber, then i used a torch and burned it which barely helps (had the cheapo depot home depot propane torch), and finally the rubber came out and the metal ring snapped out with about 15 minutes of beating at it with a hammer and chisel. but it wasn't that hard. The front one i put in was just to slip in. didn't install the rear one yet.

Pneumatic chisel worked wonders for me. You're supposed to press it out but I used the chisel because I could get a better grip on the edge. Then I just hammered it out.

I was able to get my tranny and timing belt ones out fairly easy. Just get a jig saw and cut out some of the rubber, then cut the metal ring to release the pressure, then they should just tap out.

I wish I would have thought to do a tech write-up when I did my mounts. If I find a local DSMer that is considering this, I will do the work for free just to get a good article written up.

This does not require a big press or a huge torch. I did mine with common tools (a drill and a saws-all). I drilled about 20-25 holes in the black rubber to weaken it up enough to twist the rubber out of the middle. Then I took a saws-all and made one cut all the way through one side of the ring. Then just pry at it for 20 seconds with a medium sized screw driver, and it will fall right out.

I hope this all helps. :thumb:

Yea, I just did mine about 3 wks ago. I'd thought about doing a tech article on it, but when I saw the NUMEROUS threads about it with all these same answers ( and considering the ease involved with getting them out by using these methods ) I decided to not bother doing the write up. So here's another thread to add to the list. Maybe these threads will eventually quit popping up. Nonetheless, getting the old out and the new in was the easy part. For me, getting everything to line up so I could bolt it all back together was the hard part. These things are ruthless! But once you get it running (especially if you've done the bs elim) it feels reeeealll good on the bum :thumb:

I second that! :thumb: It was a huge PITA to get it all lined up again and bolted down.

I actually raised my idle to 1000 rpm's and that took all vibration away. :thumb: (but I still have my b-shafts)

Thanks everyone for your help, I am going to attack them now.
