OK i am a newbie, but here is my question i got a 95 mitsubishi gsx small upgrades, air intake, 3" turbo back exhaust,
and i was drivin down the road normall and my car started to sputer and was makin a weird sound like all the pistons werent firing and turbo wouldnt spool and all of a suddon my car died and the ecu was humming like it was burnin up and the battery went completely dead and the head lights and tailights fuse under the hood was hummin and now it sits with a dead battery i jumped it and wont hold a charge please help

your alternator is fried buddy. Why did you have all those symthoms before your car died? Your ECU wasn't getting enough power. For example, when you have a few codein pills how do you feel? Just put the ECU in that mode . First check your 100A fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay. If thats not it, its your alternator for sure.

Thanks that helps but if my alternater was fried would that have drained my battery so quick.

Yes, our van had a bad alternator (burned up) and we could only drive it a mile or so, without any extras on (a/c, lights, radio, etc.).

Think about it this way, the alternator is out so it can't run anything. The battery has to power everything and it's not getting charged. The battery will die real fast

You also may have a dead short in your alternater, you wont be able to jump your car eirther and your 100a fuse will continue to blow. Your alternate recharges your battery as you drive and it would suck the life right out of it, even for a short distance. Happened to my 96 talon, as soon as i replaced the alternater the car ran fine.

Depending on your battery, it can last up to 30 minutes on your battery. You haven't even tested it and your automatically assuming its not the alternator because it will instantly kill the battery? Try this, take out the alternator, charge the battery until its full and start driving, let me know how long it takes. It isn't right away.

1. Check your 100A fuse in the engine compartment.

2. Test if your alternator is charging the battery or not with a volt-meter.

My alternator went on me about 5 times in 5 years, and all of them were the same way. Car would run fine all of the sudden car would jerk, boost wouldn't kick in, car would sputter. You said battery won't hold a charge? You mean when you jump start it does it run? Or does it die again? That means your alternator isn't working properly, or bad fuse.

I have a 95 tsi awd , same as the gsx, same thing happened. replaced my alternator and battery and that fixed the problem. Changed all the belts while i was in the area also , good idea on an older car

and why the battery is out you might as well change the fuel filter also, really quick replacment when battery is out.
