I have a 97 gst, with pretty basic mods, balanced short block, fmic, and really nothing else, looking for some ideas as to up the performance without being too costly, i have a stock t 25 turbo, stock exhaust manifold, and o2 housing . i eliminated the egr,and the canister and the vac. lines. my questions are thus.

1) can i use the evo 560cc injectors on a stock fuel rail, and pressure regulator?

2) can i soft line the turbo cooling lines, and /or eliminate the headache causing banjo bolt that comes off the block? or reroute the cooling lines from a different port?

3)what does removing the balance shafts from the block do for the car? and can this cause damage to it in any way?

thank everyone for any help and or advice given.

Ok to start with removing the balance shaft will not hurt it. It drops 10ftlbs off the motor meaning thats one less thing it has to turn. The same concept of when guys remove power steering and AC. I will say I do not recommend using one of those elimination kits though they tend to have issues with oil leaking.

I do not believe you can run them with the stock FPR but the stock fuel rail should be fine.

I dont think id recommend soft lining the cooling lines.

I ran my evos with a 255 with a fpr. A stock pump will work but a 190 would be great, I ran both set ups but getting larger injectors since i have link, go big and dont look back.

Removing the balance shafts frees up a few ponnies and eliminates the possibility of the belt breaking. As for the kits their fine as long as u install it properly and get a decent kit...like 55 bucks. If your looking for a upgrade for your turbo pm me up. I can give you a good deal on a t28.

Do not use bigger injectors with no tuner or afc....I'm not sure what 560's would flow at 43psi tho..Stock rail can handle over 500 hp..

Replacing the whole coolant lines with rubber ones are not reccomended..I have replaced a section of the coolant lines to and from turbo with rubber line and had no problems..They sell rubber lines for 1.50$ a foot at your local auto parts store..

Removing the balance shafts helps the motor rev faster,as well as lightening the rotating mass, and the weight overall.
The Evo 560's will be fine with the factory regulator and rail, you will want to get some kind of tuning item. AFC,DSM Link,MAFT,etc.
The turbo coolant lines you should leave as is.

have you thought about getting stainless steel braided lines for turbo coolant lines? anythings possible...ditch those balance shafts:) try the injectors and if it idles badly or performs poorly get a supporting mod
