Last week i tried adjusting my clutch and i finally got it to a point where i liked but than it automatically adjusted it self. I was pointed to the Road Race Engineering site( LINK HERE ) where it said that I also had to adjust the upper adjuster as well to get free play at the top or else it will automatically stiffen and lose all free play and eventually start to slip.

Now, my problem, I Got it to a point where I like, Tried turning the uper adjuster. BUT the clutch still changes on its own. But now when i first start driving (in the morning) it is where I put it, than through out the day the free play is gone and it engages right at the top of the clutch again.

How do I get the clutch to stay where it is?

Note: before I adjusted it was "fine" it just engaged way to low since i got my clutch few months ago, but was to lazy to fix until now.

oh and here is the picture I used to help me adjust.

ps: I did try searching but the threads didn't really have the problem after they adjusted the other rod thing.

Thanks again.:thumb:

walking? doubtful

I am currently having the same exact problem if the adjustment of the Upper pedal stop didnt help you, then im not sure. Do you still have the Accumultor In place? I do. I installed a CM 2500 clutch. and currently have it adjusted ALL THE WAY DOWN like engagement is right above the carpet and its now staying Rock solid.

if i try to raise it up, it runs right back up top solid as a rock..

I orderd a new master, and a SS line to remove the accumulator.

In my thread someone adjusted the top adjustor and fixed his problem (same as we are having) he moved it 3 complete rotations, mabye you need to go more.

if it was walking the problem would no dissapear with Low adjustment on the rod.

Are you tightening the nut all the way after adjusting it? I would think if it's not tightened all the way, then it would adjust on its own.

Thanks for info.
I dont think I am walking, as i dont really have any symptoms.
I Dont remember how many rotations i did for the top, but ill keep trying. Before I was sort of happy with it (just a grind in reverse every now and then) but it engaged right off the floor and figured i would try and fix it.

Just to be sure Which way did you turn it?

Also the nut is fully tight.

I am also going through the exact same thing in my 95 tsi. Its a real pia and ive been dealing with it for 2 months now since the new master and slave. I right now just have it back to where it engages right off the floor and i have to push the pedal through the carpet it feels like to be able to drive correctly without grinding. To make it so the pedal engages further off the floor turn it counter clockwise. If you get it fixed please post what u did as that might help me and i would greatly appreciate it.
