Hey guys, before I go crazy and lose my mind, I look to ya'll for some help and advice. I have a 1997 Eclipse GST Spyder, and have the following mods so far:

Progress Springs w/ Akico Illumina Struts
2.5" TBE Exhaust with Magnaflow Race Series Muffler
AutoMeter Vacuum/Boost Gauge
Big 16G Turbo
Apexi SAFC 2
RC 550 cc Injectors
Dejon Manual Boost Controller
SSAutoChrome FMIC
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump

Now, from what I understand I still need to get a few more things installed to have the car at max HP with the mods I have listed. Can someone please direct me on what else I need? I want the car to be reliable, and I really need to save as much money as I can. Here is a few things I *think* I need

Wideband
AFR
Fuel Pressure Regulator

Can I buy the above 3 items, and take it to a shop to install and tune on a dyno? I want to know a little bit before I walk into the local shop, all they do is DSM and Evos. Plus the guy who did my install didn't tap the J pipe for the MBC, another thing they have to do.

Also side question: is every vacuum tube supposed to have vacuum? I can take a few off that have 0 air going through them from either direction.

Thanks a lot guys.

I think 55 injectors are a little small:p Also you already have AFR (air to fuel ratio) and yes on both the wideband and the AFPR you will need for the 255. And depends on which vac. tube you are talking about but yes they either have to be hooked up to somthing or pluged.

How do I have an AFR?

Okay so I need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a logger. What route can I take with the logger to be economical?

So with :

AFPR
AFR
Wideband
Logger

I can take the car and have it tuned on a dyno?

About the vacuum: Everything is plugged in as far as I can see, but I can take some off and there will be 0 air going in or out of them. Is this normal for SOME of the vacuum lines coming from near the throttle body?

Sorry if I'm clueless, but will these parts be enough to correctly tune the car to max HP with the mods I have:

Wideband: Zeitronix Wideband Kit for the Mitsubishi Eclipse - DSMtuners.com

Fuel Pressure: Megan Racing AFPR for the Mitsubishi Eclipse - DSMtuners.com

Logger: GReddy Intelligent Informeter for the Mitsubishi Eclipse - DSMtuners.com

or

Slowboy Racing DSM Scanmaster 3 for the Mitsubishi Eclipse - DSMtuners.com

As you can see I'm trying to be economical as possible, because just a dyno tune is $500.

You can learn to do it yourself for $0! All the info needed is on this website. But yes those parts are the things you would be looking for. Try extremepsi.com or streettunedmotorsports.com, they have great prices.

I'm confused as to if the loggers can just log, or tune as well.

And from my understanding, a dyno tune is the right way to go, right?

You have SAFC 2 to tune with, but you need a logger. A good solution for you would be EvoScan ( EvoScan OBDII Mitsubishi MUTII DataLogger Scantool ). I use it and love it. This combination is what I'm going to tune with until my setup gets bigger. Then I'll switch to ECMLink (previously DSMLink). You'll need an EPROM ECU to use this though.

As for dyno tuning, it's a good way to get a good tune, but some people prefer to tune on the road if the car is a DD. Then they get a tune that is more applicable to them.

If you take the time to learn, you can get a good tune by yourself.

+1 on extremepsi.com! they have better prices than most and will price match!:thumb:

Dont worry fella all of us were in your boat at one time or another. I would first do some searching on this site so you can get an idea on which way your going to go.

Just buy yourself a cheap ass palm off ebay. The palm's can be found for under $10

You can then get tunerstein(free IIRC) or pocketlogger(about $100) and install either of those programs to your palm.

That will give you a real budget logging device.

The zeitronix wideband you mentioned earlier is probably one of the best on the market right now and gives you a large amount of addon's for later use.

Here is a link of a EXAMPLE of the palm I was talking about Palm M100 PDA Leather Case plus Programs - eBay (item 250378314598 end time Mar-01-09 17:08:24 PST)

Here is a link to tunerstein. Products

Here is link to pocket logger PocketLOGGER for OBDII

On the whole palm deal.
The IIIC is the best, but I was to lazy to find a good deal so I settled with a Palm M500.
MAKE SURE THE CRADLE IS A SERIAL CRADLE AND NOT A USB CRADLE.
They sent me a USB cradle, and you need a serial cradle to log, so now I have to wait for my bank account to transfer me 10$ and buy a serial cable.
Fun stuff.

Also the SAFC will work but it does not control timing so it can only do so much there are other tuning options to look into. Try out index has some info on a free speed density conversion for the 1G platform

For some reason this site changes the addy and sends it some where weird type dsmap net if your into do it yourself stuff or there are several other options available

I called my local shop. They said get a 95 ECU, get DSMLink, and bring the car to us. We'll use our external wideband to tune the car and you'll be done...Total cost to finish up is like another $1,100 since they charge $500 to dyno tune with their wideband.

Sounds right?

$500 to dyno tune. Sounds expensive as hell. For that buy your own damn WB and tune it yourself.

I don't have the slightest knowledge of how to tune, how to use DSMLink, how to use the 95 ECU...etc etc. I rather pay some money and have peace of mind knowing my car will be reliable for a couple years instead of blow my motor and have a $1,200 bill to rebuild it.

I can try some other places to see how much they charge to tune, but these people are very well known.

500 dollars isnt a bad price for a dyno tune considering most shops in my area charge around 700 an hour for dyno tuning. I would go for it :thumb:

$500 seems really expensive.

You don't use the 95 EPROM ECU. It is needed since it has an EPROM chip in it. This chip can be taken out and have a socket put in its place. Then, in this socket, goes the DSMlink chip. Tuning DSMlink is not hard. If you don't feel comfortable, you can post up on here or the link forums and there are plenty of people willing to help you out.

Wouldn't you rather know what's happening to your car when it's being tuned? This way if something goes wrong, you can fix it and not have to wait to bring it to a shop and pay more money.
