Ok heres the problem, Im rebuilding and moddin my 420A, the egr valve pipes are caked with carbon build up and I cant afford a new on from the dealer for 60. Searching the posts on here I cant find a straight answer. Some say it will work fine some dont.

Now please, not opinions, just facts, I have a block off kit coming to my house and I want to know I do believe it is a fed car, will the ecu send a code and will the resistor help avoid a cel? Second if the egr isnt there will the car run like crap or is it just on the CA cars.

I know that I must take out the valve, pipes, cap the vac line, and possibly put the resistor in.

Please let me know if the block off will work on my car and if the resistor is needed.

I built my own block off plate and kept everything in tact. I have no CEL and it did fix my rough idle.

A new gasket is about $1.50 although you can reuse the old one if you put a light coat of high temp RTV on it. Additionally, if you know its built up with carbon, why don't you try cleaning it with some acid brushes and a solvent? I plan on doing that with mine and also replacing the solenoid so I can remove my block off plate.

So I guess to short answer your questions, if you leave the EGR plugged in, you should not get a CEL. As far as the resistor goes, I have to speculate in saying that the ECU will read the resistance value in place of the EGR and also not throw an error.

Just some thoughts.

So leave EVERYTHING including the harnesses hooked up just like normal, jus throw the plate in between it?
