Sun doesn't affect it at all. Have had this on my Lancer for 8 months with no problem. Saw rain and shine both.
Hmm, 1 more concern would be weight. Im sure all that "rubber" has to be somewhat heavy.

it wouldnt be anymore heavy then the ten cans so at most it would probably add 2lbs and thats being generous.
