Sam here again,

I pretty much have the entire site laid out, all i need now is members. I made a quick rule list and if you read those you will notice i also made a $15/year fee, that will pay for website, fourms, possibly decals, depends on how many members we can get.

1. Must own a DSM

2. Be Active, make sure you will have enough time to stay devoted to the club, you will be asked to attend cruises, meets, shows, and post on the forums.

3. Must show appropriate behavior at meets , shows, etc...(ie) This means to drugs, alcohol, burnouts, and anything else that could give the club a bad name.

4. Must show respect for other club members and other clubs.

5. All Members must show pride in the club and strive for his growth. Any disrespect towards the club or club members is grounds for removal.

6. All Members must pay a $15 a year fee to help pay for the website, forums, and various other club things.

7. Have Fun!

Those are the rules i made, tell me what you think of them, if they r kool with you then e-mail ([email protected]) me your info and send me your $15, i have Paypal. Get back to me guys

15 bucks paypal style... no problem. lemme just make sure i have some cash, haha. as for the rules... no problem. attend meets... no problem... alright you get my drift i love it all and haven't heard one thing that has even been questionable. it's all good in the world of dsms:thumb: ;)

it sure would be nice to get some more love on this forum though, it's like us 5-6 all the time. we need to see some new names in this thread.:D

ok i am going to post this although i am not trying to be a d:ck, these are just my thoughts. believe me i want this thing to happen just as much as the next guy. but i dont like what i am seeing, maybe you can prove me wrong. btw my AIM is farmdogg54 if you want to discuss further.

i changed my mind and completely disagree with an ANNUAL fee, and also a sign up fee. while an initial sign up fee is reasonable, an annual fee is just not right. it will hinder the growth of the site and the club. it will make new members not want to join, which isnt really what its all about. it takes a little while for any forum or club to get off the ground and really start to see high member counts and really make a name for itself. there are alot of people that dont even know these online car forums exist. but if they heard about it but had to pay to join do you think they would? i know if i had to pay to sign up at the existing dsm forums, i probably wouldnt have. having been a member of them for a long time now, and knowing how helpful and informative they can be, i probably would. therefore, its a wise POST-activity forum success site, rather than PRE-activity because you will lose interest and loss of traffic. and if it does take off and there are even say 200 members in a year or so, that means you would be receiving $3,000 to run this. from what i understand, domain name registration is $15 a year, and the webhosting should be around $15 a month. the software is free, and all you have is a little bit of time invested to build the site. correct me if i am wrong please. also you said you would use this for other club activities, what would those include? also, you say you can get t-shirts and stickers made and SELL them, which mean on top of the annual fee i would also have to pay for any extras. now i know i probably just pissed some people off, but that wasnt my intention. i just think that this sign up fee is not a good idea. sponsorships and donations are the way to go at this stage of starting a new club and a new site. does anyone else agree? can you guys see what i am saying?

agreed.

Free webboard = www.invisionboard.com or phpbb boards, or u can find a copy of vbulletin from a friend.

www.dixiesys.com $15/month for hosting, or many other places if u will

Maybe $15-20 a year for domain name registrars....

sounds like ur trying to cash in on what could be a very unsuccessful way to go about things.

Remember: Slow growth is good, fast rapid growth that dwindles away in weeks or months is bad. I tell u this from experience sir, no disrepect to you or your ideas however. So I wish you luck, all of u.

Sam here,

There would only be one fee, and that would be the $15/year. I will have to check into the free forum you posted, i was going to use one that was expensive but the options r great. I understand what you are saying but do u think its fair that i spend all my money on getting everything started? The donations thing would work for the first few members but when things started to get big people prob. wouldn't donate. I wasn't going to sell anyone decals ontop of the fee, i was going to buy them once we had enough money saved up. The same thing for T-shirts too. As for the left over money, there is tons of stuff that we could do depending on how much is left over:

Picnic/BBQ
Host a Car Show
Pay for shit at our meets
ETC...

I mean if you guys wanna do the donations thing that is fine but i think it is going to take a lot longer for things to happen like getting decals, shirts, etc...

wow, i'll be quite honest with you both... you have some good points. i can deal with a $15 a year fee. that's not bad. and plus i feel that i was one of the main starters of this as well as you (farmdogg) and you(espo). i was after all the one who posted this thread in the first place because i was very serious about trying to get something like this together which is why i will have no problem with a $15 dollar fee. to me that feels like the least i can do. if i was good with web pages i would do that, if i was good with organizing things i would do that, but frankly i'm not good at much except my girlfriend and my car, LOL. so i feel my $15 dollar fee is kind of making up for what i can't do for the club in other areas. although, i myself, might not be that gung-ho about forking over $15 bucks to join a car club if i didn't have much information. and i think i would like to see some sort of back up material (website with info and pics, flyers, decals, etc.) that would show me that this club is definitly legitiment and my $15 dollar fee would indeed be going to a just cause.i think in order to do that we should have the site up and well underway with pictures and info and then on the website in some sort of info section we could have a long description of everything that will happen with each members $15 dollar fee and how that will benefit the club and how we can have some really awesome things for the club with that money. that would entise me to join a club that i was not sure about. i think with the kick ass stuff that we could have with the left over cash is well worth the initial 15$/member investment. the cookout would be sweet, hosting a car show would be more than sweet. i love the idea of everything mentioned. more feedback is good, or tell me what you think of my thoughts. lets hear something:thumb:

i think it's a good idea, although the initial setup fee might cause problems, most clubs have annual "dues" try this one on for size, with the penn state car club we have the following:
10 dollars a year = $5 to get into events, free stickers, dash plaques.
no due paid = $10 to get into events no free stuff.

although the amounts can be played with, we find that works the best.

that's pretty cool. i would be fine with that.

off subject.... well kinda.... bluemeanieTSi, which penn state, penn state new kensignton? cause just a few weeks ago i saw a lowered blue tsi rolling around. tell me where you're from. if you don't feel like posting again just im me.... my name is ughhhead84.

back on subject... i think we need to get a nice little chat room kicking again. peace:thumb:

Sam here,

Well i have thought about everything and i think it might be better to just accept donations. How many people would honestly donate more than once though? I will also have a page that only members can view that will show who donated and where the money went to so that way there is no possible way for anyone to "rip" the club off. We will have to see how much $ we get for donations but this will mean that we will prob. have to buy shirts individually. I just need some $ right off the bat to get everything started. Once we get the site up and running it will be all fun from there. Tell me what you guys think:thumb:

that's what i'm talkin about!:thumb: that's perfect. you can still expect a good $15-$20 donation from me. and i'll donate a few times if you need it. i think this sounds awesome. :D

I think that if people see where their money is going to they might be encouraged to donate more. Also if they want more from the club (BBQ, car show, etc.) they will have to contribute to make things happen. I think maybe a required annual fee (and then any other donoations people want to give) could work better than an initial registration fee. Because like Farmdogg said, it may cause people to not join if they have to pay to register. That's just my opinion.

Its me now...

Now I like the idea of us paying a yearly fee (of $10-$20). If you dont pay, you dont get free stuff, dont get discounts on parts, dont get into events free, ETC.
So basically its up to you if you want to pay/donate, but if you do, it will be a better decision (because of the free stuff and discounts).
Gotta go for now...

i'm likin' it, that sounds like a good idea. leave the choice up to the member on whether or not they want to spit out the cash once or spit it out at every event/meet. i like it. i, of course, will be donating/paying with no problem.:D :thumb:

Sam here,

Ok, we will just do donations but i will have a members only page that can be viewed by all members and on it will show how much $ that person has donated so everyone will be able to see who is slacking. Also people who donate more will receive a bigger discount on parts.:D . Does everyone agree onthis now? So there will be no "start-up" fee but every member will be expected to donate some money throughout the year. We still need members though! Send me pics, mods, info---- [email protected]

there seems to be a lot more people with dsm's around here than i thought....

Come on guys, send me some info

Sam here

Ok, go to www.Pittracing.com/PDMain.html, I have put up a donate button, i myself have donated $10 off the bat which i don't think is bad considering i have done the entire website. I also am in the process of making a new forum. In order to use those free ones u need to learn how to use PHP so i am giving that a try. I also need a medium size chrysler logo and eagle with a white background, if u can find any post them up here. Ok guys, hope to hear from u
