I've got the same crank/pistons/rods as you! woo hoo! I'm running a 60-1 though instead of a 60 trim. Pulls great at 20psi, let me tell you what. I get full boost at about 3500rpm. There is a guy on here with my setup running 21psi and he went 11.3 @12x mph. Thats only 21psi guys... this is gunna be a beast.

i would just run a stand alone, muzzy, aem, haltek, etc... Personally i would go motec, sure its more expensive 4-6k, but its got alot more features, if u plan on running 10's all day, i would sure want a perfectly tunned car.

I will be running the ECU+ for now. I think it will meet my needs perfectly, as long as I can get the 780cc injectors dialed in. By the way... were the heck is everyone getting that I want to run 10's there was another person who said that this combo was capable of "10's all day long" I never said that! I'm hoping for 12's!

Wow...
No need to be divisive. All I was offering was an analysis based on my knowledge of these cars and horsepower technology in general. I am sorry joeracer for sending your original post off topic, that was not my intention. You will run what you run be it 12's 10's 2's whatever, good luck in hitting your goals; it sounds like a great set-up and should be a lot of fun to drive.
Aloha

Im not mad or anything, I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't talking big, saying that I have a 10 sec, when the car is in a million pieces. I'm at a standstill now, waiting for parts to arrive.

Not really, more parts came in, but my block and head, is still at the machine shop. They said I would have it on monday. I should have the long block assembled by wed. and the motor in by saturday or sunday of next week. I expect it to be ready to pull out of the garage two weeks from today, only because I am still waiting on parts. RnR is over a week late on my exhuast and they said they won't even have mufflers untill next wed. Not good considering that they said that I would have it no later than last friday. But oh well that is the story of this project... behind schedule. I really wanted to get all of the side jobs on the car done while my parts were at the machine shop, but since none of those parts came in, I can't do anything. Though I did get my shift kit and end clutch kit, and I will be installing them tommorow. Also I did get a new pickup tube for my fuel system fabricated, and I also modified the inner bumper and bumper cover and got the FMIC installed.

I still have to fab brackets for my new trans cooler, power steering cooler run my new fuel line and hook up the new pressure regulator, install my shift kit and end clutch kit. So I still have a ways to go, but I really think it will be about 80% done by the time my motor is ready to go in next weekend. These things take time, when you are doing so many mods, this type of operation is not BOLT ON, if you are scared of fabrication, and enginuity don't start this type of project!..

Here is some pics of my new turbo I got the other day.

Well heres another update;

Not too much new, the machine shop pushed back my parts till Wed. instead of Mon. Oh well, they are the best in town....

I fabricated brackets and mounted my new trans cooler in the passanger side fenderwell were the stock intercooler was. It actually came out quite nice. I also turned my old trans cooler into my new power steering cooler, since with the FMIC the stock line cooler had to go. Well I actually just re mounted it in the same spot and ran new line from the P/S resivoir to the cooler. I think this set up should work nicely.

New concerns that came up

I am worried about clearance issues between either the block and my compressor housing, or the room between the housing and the fans. It's hard to say right now since the motor is out.

Things I'm not looking forward to;

Shift kit and end clutch kit.... I think these two things will be the most tedious projects on this car. There is a different size bolt for everything, looks like parts could be mixed up. But no worries I have reserved friday to focus on that alone.

Phew, who knew this was going to get this outa control.

Well I have had no time to work on this thing lately, I got a few hours in and I now have the motor assembled, I ran my new fuel system so hopefully it will come together soon.

A few weeks ago at the tulsa drag strip I saw brett(fast89lx) hit a 9.79 w/full weight, stroker setup and the new fp turbo(I can not remember witch one). You should talk to him, he has it down.

well i have come to another bump. In the name of my motors longevity, I believe I have decided to take the studs off of the mains. My machinist did not line hone my block when I dropped it off. Recently I came across some articles about bearing failure due to misalignment of the mains with studs. I don't know why the studs cause more distortion than the stock bolts, but I do not want to take the risk with my motor and turbo. Plus I have never broke a main bolt before, which is why I am not really attached to the studs. The other argument is actually from my machinist him self, he said that if I torqued the mains and the crank did not bind it should be fine. A week later, should, does not make me feel warm and happy inside. Again, who is to say if my mains are even out of round. So before I make my final decision, leave your opinions, I still have the stock bolts somewhere, and the oilpan is still off so it is not a big deal to replace the studs with the bolts. Let me know what you think

Well Today was the first time I have worked on my car in what seems like forever. The motor will be going in tommorow or friday. I have been delayed due to parts, and it took a little longer than I thought to get my converter back. I got the converter back today, so the last thing I am waiting on is a manual valve for my trans and it is ready to crank up. Heres a pretty good pic of the motor just missing the water pump with the RNR downpipe for test fit.

Nice turbo setup should be able to put down some big numbers on the dyno and at the track. What boost level do you plan on running?

I am running the stock intake for now. If I come across a sheetmetal intake for a good deal I will put that on. I am running a ceramic coated pacesetter header.

I did, the ports are identical. Granted if I ever do a 1g headswap, I will have to go with a SBR Manifold and port it but for now this will work fine.

final comp. ratio is about 8.5:1 it might be a little less due to my cometic HG its a little thicker and comp ratio is calculated with the stock thickness gasket.

To adress the manifold question, the only problem i found was the crummy gasket that neither matched the manifold or head. After i trimmed it up, everything was fine, manifold matches gasket which matches head, i am sorry you had poor luck with the product.

Lose the pacesetter manifold. I had two of them and both of them cracked at the collector. As far as 1/4 miles times I dont ever drag race at the track but my g-pro clocked me between 11.2 and 11.7 on four tries at 13 lbs of boost. As far as electronics the most effective way to get these cars tuned is at the source inside the eprom. Learn how to program an eprom and a world of tuning will open up for you. Everything I have done to my dsm is self taught either through the internet and on these boards or in person with trial and error on my own part.

My dsm has taught me to:
Rebuild engines
weld
program ecus
rebuild transmissions
fix anything that breaks and not be afraid to when it does

With the 2.4 and a 60 trim mildly setup you can throw down an easy 400 hp
Well tuned you can push it into the 600+ range and still be a 4 cylinder thats street legal
There are not many street legal 4 cylinders on the road that put this kind of power down. The only problem with our setups is can your transmission take it??
Ease it off the line and you will be fine, drop the clutch off the line and say bye bye to your tranny, Im on my third one.

In any case Id rather fix my dsm than make any of the ridiculous car payments in society that are generally accepted by others but frowned upon when the economy is down.

If you need help or advice Ive basically been there tried that done that on these cars, you name it Ive probably tried it. Dont hesitate to contact me if you need any "stroker" advice. Sean
