low compression shouldnt cause it not ot start but i have used those piston ring in three of my cars eclipse,crx, and neon with 420a and i have never had a problem with them the ones in the eclipse had about 100.000 miles on the rings whin i sold it:thumb:

Man i parked my car one day came out and it wouldent start i think the ethanol out here ate up my rings im from cali and always ran regular fuel 91. I did all kinds of checks from timing to sensors and relays no CEL i ran the scanner on it and so i sent it to a shop and they said it wouldent start cause it had really low compresson in like three cylinders and it wouldent start like that but man idk it has like 160xxx miles

yea im not sure on low compression causeing it not to start but maybe you should do a cylinder leak down test then you will know exactly what makeing your compression so low:thumb:

Well you cant do a cyclinder leak down test without the head on. Low compression would definately be a reason the car wouldnt start.

First of all, you need to use punction to seperate your sentences. That way your thoughts don't get jumbled up, and we don't have to spend 10 minutes decifering what your trying to say.
Secondly, what are the exact numbers you mean by "low".
Thirdly, what do you mean you put oil in the cylinders and the next day it was gone?
I would go with OEM pistons or JE/Weisco, I would never buy pistons off ebay. That's just me though, I'm nervous like that.
Lastly, in regards to your "how do you do a leakdown test" question;
Let me google that for you

Ok so thank you for googleing it for my but that tells me nothing the head is off. like i said earlier i did not do the test a shop did it for me and thay did not wright it down for me but he said that there was low compression in three cylinders. So i filled the cylinders with oil and left it in there all night and the next day oil leaked out of three cylinders. But do you think that that would cause it not to start?

If you're just asking if low compression will prevent a car from starting, then the answer is yes. What constitutes "low compression" depends on the engine, though.

You can't do any sort of compression or leak-down tests without the cylinder head installed, so either do your engine work or put it all back together.

Personally, I wouldn't buy any engine component from eBay unless it came from Parts Dinosaur:

PartsDinosaur, Phoenix, Arizona, wholesale engine parts and kits

Hmm.......

He answered your question of;
Yeah but how do you do a leak down test?
As someone else mentioned, you cannot do a leak down if the head is off.

like i said earlier i did not do the test a shop did it for me and thay did not wright it down for me but he said that there was low compression in three cylinders.

Any reputable shop would have the numbers written down and give them to you. They normally write them down when they do the test anyway. I would question ability/trustworthiness of that shop.

Makes me wonder how much oil you put in there :hmm:. It should have been only a capfull and then refer back to rstare's post.

But do you think that that would cause it not to start?
Yes it can.

I am having a little trouble deciphering your posts. I would ask that you try using a little more punctuation. It helps us to understand, and it makes you look a bit more professional.

Thanks guys i will use more punctuation in my posts. Im just going to put new rings only not pistons. I have alot of people telling me that the car should still start with low compression but im not shure, its weird cause the car ran fine one day and the next day came out and it would not start it sounds to me like i wanted to start, there is no CEL on or anything.

It depends on how low the compression was... it's not a binary thing; it's not just "low compression" or "not low compression." As such, you probably would've noticed worsening fuel economy, loss of power and other signs too.

If you don't buy them ON ebay, you are buying them OFF ebay. :p

If I was in the market for some OEM style pistons, I would go with Topline. You can get them on ebay and at reputable shops. They have a coating on them and are said to be as strong or stronger than the OEM ones. They are around 150-160 for a set including rings I believe.
