looking to mount my SD set up. I figured out where to mount my MAP sensor but not my ait.

I live in california so we have smog. Im planing on mounting it and not change it when it comes to smog time. I had planned to mount it in the elbow but it will be too noticeable and definitely will not pass smog. (im trying to limit the parts I need to swap when smog is up.)

curious for those people who have mounted them on stock 1g manifold where did you place it/best place?

thanks

Mine is mounted on the bottom of the elbow and you can't see it unless you stick your head under there and look, but if I didn't have my battery relocated to the truck I doubt you would be able to see it at all.

I'd recommend not mounting it there...

Probably the best place to put the AIT it is in your UICP right post Intercooler the closer you go to the Manifold the more likely you are going to be heat soaking it while in traffic or stopping. Depends on the Sensor but that's my recommendation.

it should be after the bov because I think before the bov is to violent I think from blowing off, but don't quote me on that. The closer you can get it to the throttle body in the upper intercooler pipe the better, because you will get a more accurate representation of the air temp inside the intake manifold. I would try my best to plug it into the bottom of the pipe so that it can't be seen from over head when looking in the engine bay.

As most said, I also don't recommend putting it in the IM. If you ever decide to run a meth/water setup you can kill the IAT sensor so installing in a place BEFORE a meth nozzle might go would be ideal. Always plan ahead...

Mines installed on the underside of my UICP just after my bov and it can't be seen from looking down in the bay. Engine Bay 2012

You'd never even know it was there.
