Beleive it or not I have spent about a month scratching my head over a turbo and am lost in the maps and spool times and HP ratings and can't take it anymore  . Heres the low down, $900+ to spend, want 400+ HP and want quick spool for street, Internally gated, and direct bolt up to evoIII. Have all the bolt ons accept AFPR and internals. So something from? SBR, a 20G, GT32E, 60-1, you name it want to hear some insight. Seems like everyday I'm leaning on a certain turbo and then see a different one and change my mind. Kinda like the GT32E. Have even thought about going w/ GT30R BB.

Although the ball-bearing turbos are more expensive they provide SWEET spool up time which is a major plus for the AWD cars. I think your idea of the GT30R is excellent, it is a fantastic turbo and really could be all you need. That being said, its a little bit out of your target budget. I know a few people who said that actually the PTE SCM50 worked VERY well on their DSMs with excellent spool, good top end and it makes fantastic power on pump gas. I know this turbo is a trendy choice on DSM tuners but there is a reason it got popular in the first place, check it out.
