toronto,
Kill The Rust –Phosphoric Acid compounds convert the ferrous oxide [rust] to ferrous phosphate, which is harder than the taxman’s heart. Cover the metal with a compound like Naval Jelly, wash it off and dry it well, then paint it.

i read this somewhere tonight, wondering is it logical to do this on my car? is it safe, will it work?
any know how of this type of thing would be nice,
thanks guys

must suck to live in canida during winter. all that salt rusting cars away.
i used this spray paint kinda rust inhibiter. it suppose to deoxidize the rust to stop it from rusting more and turn it into a sandable primer. its sprays on clear. and it actually stoped the rust from spreading worse. i got it at walmart in the automotive section.

ya i have that crap, it sprays on relatively clear, almost feels like a jelly after a while, but was wondering if this idea would work
yes canadas winters = :thumbdown

it seemed to work on my camaro i sprayed it on like 4 years ago on a few rust spots here and there and over the next 4 years the spots never got any bigger. i dunno about long term like 10- 20 years from now but it seemed to be a good temporary solution.

u sprayed the actual surface?
or the back side, and underbody?
because im strictly talking underbody hear, ive already fixed all the surface spots

i sprayed it on the floor boards too. underbodywise my camaro had very little rust except on the floorboards. the rust never got worse. depends on how bad your rust is. i took a wire brush on the floorboards and broke loose all the rust then sprayed it on. if u got big holes i dont think it will work all that good.

no, no big holes, underbody just looks nasty because its white, and theres ugly rust here and there, the worst part on my car is my rear bumper support, its literally ALL rust, scary stuff.

i think i will just get some tremclad rust sealing paint, and go to town on the underbody. sounds like a good weekend project to me

to much work for a 1000 bucket of bolts.
thanks for your help
anyone else heard of the acid technique though, still kind of interests me
