For those of you who have removed your PCV valve and either ran that line to a catch can or to the ground, how do you hollow out the PCV valve? I hammered the hell out of it with a bunch of different screwdrivers and none of them did a damn thing.

I guess you just end up buying another fitting, one that is already hollow? What did you guys do?

Well for one, my PCV valve is messed up, for two, the stock PCV system lets oil fill up the intercooler and piping, for three, it makes the engine bay simpler and cleaner, for four, leaks are much less likely to develop when there isn't any hoses.

the pvc doesn't get oil in the intercooler though. its the hose coming off the side of the valve cover that does that. and i just put a catch can in line with it. i got one off a conquest. or you can just get a can and not reroute it. just be sure to filter it if you don't reroute it

why would you want to get rid of the pcv valve? what good would it do you?

It will release more bottom end pressure. I just bought a 1/8" NPT fitting at Napa and threaded it in.:thumb:

Did you have to tap it first or did it just thread right in?

I'm a perfectionist, and already had my cover off so I tapped it. But the threads are the same, it should thread right in. Make sure to put a little teflon tape on there.:thumb:

Allright- I tried to fit the 1/8" NPT fitting in with no luck. The NPT is a bigger diameter I think.

Where's a good place to get a 1/8" tap?

Any autoparts store should have one in stock. There is a slight angle that the fitting goes into. Be careful.:thumb:

the nipple/fitting on the 1G intake manifold for the PCV hose will thread right into the valve cover as well. you can try getting one from the junkyard (or putting a plug on the intake manifold and moving the fitting to the valve cover)

I just took my own, then put a bolt in the IM hole to seal it off. This is actually recommended on someone's site. RRE I think....http://www.roadraceengineering.com/instructions/catchcaninstructions.htm:D

Honestly, no idea. I have a "bag o' bolts" that contains about a gazillion bolts from anywhere and everywhere on cars, trucks, stuff around the house. So one of those fit :)

It's metric so it should be something standard elsewhere on the car. Just try things until you have the size and thread pitch matched.
