Part out.. or sale as whole?

I have lost all faith in my car...
It has been down since february and I need a daily more than ever right now.

First the tranny went. I replaced that now it seems like its the pressure plate but I just don't know. Maybe a bad master cylinder who knows.
I just don't have money for it now and it's hard to get a job with no car.

You might make more parting it out but it obviously will be alot easier selling as a whole. I know if you do part it out I'll be asking you about some prices

Parting out definitely brings in more money but is more work and time. Im in the middle of parting my car out performance wise and just returning it to stock to sell.

Part it out.

I will take the complete sideskirts, front bumper, the upper drip mouldings (the black piece that runs along the top of the driver and passanger window) for a start.

If you do part it out I would pick up the front bumper but I think you would regret it in the long run.

I know it would bring more money but I need money for a car.. I could always get a car and part it out to make payments

I don't really think that I would regret it ... This thing has been nothing but a PITA
It has plenty of goodies so I think I would be alright parting it out

The car has only 65000 miles on it.. the motor run perfect

but i have met a few people who make good money parting dsm's out on C/L. if i had a spot to do it and time to deal with it, i would part it out. looks like you got people interested

I would if I got the right offer but everybody wants it for like $1000 and what could I do with that.

My aunt has a mint tahoe that I'm probably going to get.. I'll probably just get that, get a job and part it out to help pay for it.
Once I get back on my feet I will get another one.. but probably just a gst this time

just a tranny or pressure plate or MC? man a MC rebuild is 45 dollars if you do the labor , 90 if you dont. a clutch replacement would be around 400-600 parts and labor , just try to fix it take it to a shop , most shops let you make payments around here. I mean.... thats a good looking car. dont let a few issues get you down. these cars a plagued wtih problems but once its going good and running good you say to yourself.... "I was gonna get rid of this? what was I thinking?" and If you NEED a car , search CL I just bought a GREAT mirage for 450 dollars yesterday , passes inspection and all. lil rust but o boo hoo. Search CL , search for things like Geo metro , mirage , corolla , etc. reliable and cheap is the name of the game.

that car is way way to clean to part out and with that low milage it is worth some money so i would never consider partin it out you put 500 bucks in it to fix it you got a nice car or you caould sell it for 4500-5000 dollars i parted out my buddys 2000 integra in ohio and here hondas are like crack or somethin cause everone has one idk what it is about them they are slow but i only got 2500 bucks out of all the parts and it was clean as hell just fix it and sell it that is what i would do way more cash that way

I haven't seen any pics of the car yet, but I'm positive the car is worth way more than $1000 as a whole. You'd make more money parting it out, but why kill a dying breed?? Personally, I'd put it in a barn or garage until you have enough money to fix it. If you want something cheap as a Daily Driver, get a honda and keep it stock. Either way, It's your choice.

I would love to keep it! It's always been my dream to own a gsx.
The thing is I have no money right now and my mom does not have money for me to borrow or else I would get a cheap honda.

My gsx has just been sitting up in my garage under a cover. I worked on it every chance I had back when I had a job now It just seems like little problems keeping me from haveing it perfect

I would hate to see a car like that get parted out. DSM's have problems, that's just the way it is, so if a couple minor things are making you want to get rid of it, I say just fix them and sell it whole or sell it as is. As some others said, parting it out could be a long process and you will probably not profit enough to make it worth the time and effort it takes. For the car's sake I hope you can at least find someone else willing to buy from you for a decent price and get it on the road again.
