Well my buddy is getting a front mount for his 2Gb GSX, and he wants to paint it black(car is black) to kinda make it not as obvious, ive seen a couple cars with it done and some cars it looks hot some it doesnt. What do you guys think? I thought about it for when i get mine but id rather not cover up the hotness of a front mount, and i like the "oh it has a front mount it must be badass" reactions.

If I had a front mount, I'd want it to be seen...I like the look. But I can also see why you would want to paint it. I'd paint half of it, that way you have the best of both worlds.

Well if you painted it half yellow, then you would only get 10 more horsepower, but if you painted it half yellow and put stickers on the other half you would get 30 more hp

I don't think you would want to paint it. You need to get it anodized. I have seen some threads about it and possibly reducing it's efficiency. It's all up to you or your friend in the end.

How about a big intercooler sticker? With it on he will get the extra power he craves, but if he doesn't want to look to flashy, he can just pull the sticker back off.

Can an intercooler be painted?
Certainly. One might find a small loss of efficiency if the core is painted, but likely this would be less of a difference than the repeatability of measurement. By all means, paint the end tanks, but preference suggests the core remain exposed

To expand on this, lightly coating the exposed core with paint will not hurt efficiency much if at all. You'd prol have more negative affect on efficiency by placing one of those black mesh screens in front of it

Some type of ceramic paint. Anodizing would work fine, I don't know the price difference between the two.

VHT sells that spray. Google is thy friend. Either that or spray a light coat over it not heavy.

I remember a long time ago seeing an ad on Ebay for an intercooler off an Audi I think, I can't remember. Anyways, it was a factory intercooler with decent size, and it was black to begin with. I'll see if I can find anymore.

Just spray a little flat black on the front part. The difference in cooling efficiency will be completely negligble.

#### that... go to home depot... get a 5 gallon bucket of flat black... and just dip the whole thing in there... run some paint thru the inside of the core too... just to be sure...

Alot of diesel truck intercoolers come in a black finish. They just appear to be aluminized.
