Well, there 17" Rota Subzeros... Got them brand new. I've gotten bored with the look and I've always loved black w/ a polished lip rim on red cars. Should I go ahead and spraypaint them? Should I take them to a powdercoating place? Or should I just leave them alone?

Too bad they don't make these rims in that color anymore. :(

I know everyones first choice is to powerdercoat them, and im not saying that its a bad idea to do that, but painting works just fine. For my rims, I painted the front two black and powdercoated the back two black. I really see no difference... Which ever way seems more applicable for you.

What steps did you take in doing them? I did my last GSX rims like that.. I could rub the paint off with my finger and it chipped real easy.

well first of all, I already had black paint left over from when I painted my turbo wing. I picked up a quart of paint at a local commercial paint dealer, (they deal with ppg and color matching). I also got some speed clear to give the paint a final gloss. You also need some reducer to clean any unecessary paint residue. After you picked up all the paint equipment, it will cost you maybe around $50-60 at most. Now your ready to paint, all you need is a airbrush kit gun or a spray gun. (don't use spraycan, thats what probably caused your wheels to rub off). Just spray evenly, and you should be alright. If you choose powdercoat, it may cost you about $80 per rim if done professionally. Hope this helps a bit. good luck

nice car by the way :thumb:

I see...

Man, these Subzero's look like they'd be hard to paint.

I like the way your car looks now. You might want to do a photoshop before delving too deep into the project. Also, since they don't make that color of your rims anymore, they'd probably be worth more when you sell them as opposed to painted ones. :thumb:
