So i took my 6g swap with 2g head and had the head cut for straightness, complete valve job and bronze valve guides put in it along with hot tanked. Picked up a new fel pro head gasket using the head studs already on the engine, torqued 30-60-90 in the appropriate procedure.

Get it all back together, start it up, and it INSTANTLY shuts off. Timing is dead on. Checked a million times over. The car starts on first crank but just keeps instantly shutting off. i can keep it running with alot of gas but just sounds like shit. I have a p1300 code. Pulled a plug, they are soaked. i know i have CAS installed properly (its ON the intake cam). Im leaning towards the ecu just taking a crap on me or a bad CAS. Possible bad MAF?

Things checked:
Timing is dead on
Cas installed correctly
New plugs, wires
Cas conversion wiring is good. all connections sodered and shrinked.

Has this happened for anyone?

Hi there seems like you have a serious issue well i had a buddy of mine that had a similar problem. By what i am understanding is that you have done a 6bolt swap with a 7bolt 2g head added CAS. Now one thing you didn't state was is this car of yours a 2g as well or 1g?

WOW i apologize. this is a 1995 tsi. so a 2g. i actually bought the car like this. the head guides where shot so i had them redone. reinstalled the head now it won't stay running. i know the cas isn't 180 out. i am pretty damn sure my firing order is correct (not that i think that would even cause this condition). the car ran before the head replacement.

the head was checked for straightness, valve job done, all new guides and seals. the place that did it is VERY reputable.

If your plugs are soaked when you pull them, it would be wise to get that repaired before anything else. You could simply just need the spark plug tube grommets that are sold with the valve cover gasket.

Well in that case i would say that check your spark components and make sure your CAS is soldered right. and that it is in working condition also check CAS wiring was done right. Last but not least very important check if your ECU is eprom.

Also is your battery dieing by any chance?

I know my harness is sodered right and firing order is good! My ecu is from keydiver. It has a :)chip in it....does that make it eprom? If so, what's that mean? took the ecu apart and didn't see any melting. Still same problem :( ugh

Cas was also replaced with a new unit!!

I believe the site the ecu came from was dsmchips.com

I had this similar problem a couple weeks ago started it died right away if I gave it gas it would run but die eventually. doubt this is your problem but my air filter had came off the tubing causing it to get no air and just gas and die right away needless to say I got a 4 inch hose clamp immediatly. hope that helps
