P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor Code

Story: Both yesterday and today this happened. Car starts and runs fine when engine is cool. After running for a while and shutting off, if I go to turn it on again, it will not turn over. Yesterday, I didn't have time to look at it before work, so after I got home I tried starting it, and it started right up first try and gave me the p0335 cel. Today, same thing. After warmed up, would not start. Does not even attempt to crank, when I turn the key, I hear a very low noise, but that is it.

From what I have read, (and I can be completely wrong) if the crankshaft position sensor goes out, doesn't the car at least try to crank over though?

1996 Automatic by the way, so hopefully not crankwalk.

With a bad crank position sensor, the car will still crank. Your problem sounds like an electrical problem. Maybe a coil pack going bad. Also, when was the last time you changed the plugs/wires? It could even be a bad starter solenoid. I had this happen to me once. Sometimes the car would start right up, other times it wouldn't even crank over unless I got under it and beat on the solenoid with a hammer.

That's what I thought. My plugs and wires were replaced about 4,000 miles ago so they should be fine, but I will check them anyway.
Any idea if anything else can trigger this cel? CAS?
