I have a 97 talon tsi completely stock but its been sitting for 5 years the first thing I'm gonna do is all maintaince. Now with the fuel pump sucking in bad gas its not gonna be in the best shape should I do an oem or 190 and rewire? I am planning on HP levels around 300 to 350

I would go with the 190. I mean why not? Same price more efficient pump. Might as well upgrade now instead of later. It won't hurt anything.

The oem 1g fuel pump is pretty terrible. The 2g pump flows 160lph with rewire. If your goal is 300whp the 1g pump wont cut it. A 190 pump is pretty nice, will meet the 300whp goal easily, and requires no supporting mods. Plus with rewire the 190 pump will max a 16g no problem.

That's what I was thinking what that do well on the stock 450cc? I'm gonna clean those also

450's have a little room, but wont take you to your 300hp goals.

I'm on the stock turbo which I'm not sure what the name is for the 97 talon is it the t25? What size ejectors would work good 560cc?

Yes the t25 is the factory 2g turbo. The problem with changing injectors is that some sort of tuning is required. Be it a safc or dsmlink.

I would stay with the stock injectors until you can compensate for the addition fuel.

just get a walbro 255 pump and be done.Around the 250-350whp range get 550-650cc injectors if stick with a safc.If anything else you can just get going on the ecmlink way get 750cc-1000cc injectors.

a 255 would be a straight over kill. you dont need that till your in the 400+ hp range, not to mention a waste of money if hes looking for 3-350 HP.
personally it makes no sense to get a oem one then in a few months want to replace it. Save your money in the long run and get a 190. plus it will be perfect for the 3-350hp build

The 255 pump is the same price as the 190 pump..It's not really over kill it runs just fine.So save your money in the long run and get a 255 for same price as a190 and not have to upgrade later.:thumb:

But this will start the afrp arguments again LOL.

I went with a 190 because i was realistic with my goals LOL. No plans on making 600hp anytime soon for me. Since a 190 pump can support as much as the stock bottom, i would say most 90% of us would be just fine with a 190.

I'd say a 255. they are the same price (within $20) also get a decent fpr, something with a rising rate boost reference. it would be overkill to re-wire the OEM pump, then get a 190, then get a 255.

I put a 255 on a non-turbo 2.2 cavalier and ran beautifully, it all in the return/pressure controls.

That's fine people can argue all day...Or they can just shut up and do it make some extra horsewer and see for themselfs. If you really think about it if anyone has really done it then it really is fine to drive maybe over time and I meen a while then maybe get a afpr but it not rush to waste another $200 for it now.Hell I have been using stock fpr with a 255 for 4 years.

Yea i agree with you on the overrun part. I usually just suggest a 190 because honestly if they're asking about what pump to run, they will most likely never need anything larger. The 190 will support over 400whp. How many dsm's are honestly over that mark. Not that many. Going with anything larger then a 16g gets pretty expensive. I guess if they have a built bottom end and plans of large frame turbo's in the near future then yea 255 or duals, but they probably wouldnt be asking what they needed in the first place.

Bigger pumps also help if running different types fuel like race gas or E85 even on a 16g.Also it's mostly the HP255 that cause more of a over run issue with out a afpr.Over run is mostly at idle and mostly thats just stop lights. But don't bother making a "race car" and be iffy about stuff like this.

The evo 9 pump is a great option yes but going straight to the 255 will help flow better for race gas and E85 if he decides to run those fuel types in his build at one point. This way he can make the 350whp on the 16g otherwise lots of knock and only low boost for pump gas.

EVO 9 sounds like a good idea to me and yeah the 255 is a good idea in the long run if I'm wanting to ever run e85 but i don't see that in my future just yet and the 255 supposivley needs a better afpr which in the end will cost more
