Is there anyone running over 700hp without oringing the block? I plan on just a good true flat deck/head some standard arp's at 95ftlbs, stock mitsu mls headgasket with copper spray and make sure the tune is good.

I should be ok right? What do you guys making big power think?

Yeah, Brent rau makes twice that power without O-rings.

Like DSM_PWR said, the Felpro MLS & tool steel head stud (ARP L19 or A1 H11) combo is working very well for many high HP cars these days. The Felpro MLS gasket is a bit more expensive compared to the other MLS gaskets on the market, but it has proven to be superior to quite a few people.

Honestly you dont know unless you try. If the motors together, and has never been an issue go for it. Keep the tune in check. Timing is always what people get carried away with.

I did that and have been fine so far. My motor was together, and I didnt have issues with the old turbo setup so I figured I would run with it. 29psi straight 93 pump no meth/alcohol/water injection nothing on a gt4294. Standard arps, no o-ringed block or head, felpro composite 30 dollar gasket.

Alot of guys get the head o-ringed if the block is built and in the car, work just as good as the block. There is different types of o-rings they put in also. Search the web. When/if this lets go when I crank the boost up on gas, Im going to a o-ringed head, felpro composite.

are people really having luck with a felpro mls gasket? i need a new gasket and i was gonna go with a mitsu MLS but im assuming i can get a felpro for less. does auto zone have them?

The Felpro MLS coupled with L19's is a proven combo but I am a little old school and like using copper gaskets. Before the head had to be O-ringed to use a copper gasket, but now SCE Gasket's ISC brand of copper gaskets has a built in O-ring. These can handle a lot of power with the right head studs. Which ever gasket you do decide on make sure you do not just buy the average ARP's, they are strong but at that power level they will fail.

Like I said, it's expensive. The Felpro MLS retails for over $200. But, from what I've heard from everyone running one, it's well worth the extra cost. You should be able to order one from any Felpro dealer. It's part number 1153-1.

My only complaint with that gasket is that it's the least forgiving that I've ever seen. It will deform and fail at the first sight of detonation. At least it did for us.

Hey thanks guys, I have a standard set of arps I used on the torque plate when the machining was done... I should have used the L19s for the machining process too... But heck it shouldn't have much of an effect since the standard arps were at 105ftlbs with the plate.

I will be doing L19s with the head gasket recomended (fel pro)

car might end up making more power than 700 or less... I have a goal of 9.80s made 10sec power on a stock engine this year on pump should do much better with the built 2.0l, s372r, staged injectors and e85... And I'll get some safety equipment in the car too!

Just got to find a good tuner! No one up here uses e85 so I'm thinking I'll head to Ohio and see buschur. Now I'm rambling! Thanks again guys.

L19's and the felpro gasket are where its at. Thats what I'm running on a stock motor with some cams and its holding together. It made 597 on a Dyno Dynamics dyno which should be super close to the 700 mark on a dyno jet.

Call up DB Performance (763-428-9882) if you don't want to go all the way down to Ohio. Shane is the man when it comes to tuning!!!

Is it $100 better than a Mitsu MLS? I've had good luck with them in the past.
Just curious if there are any advantages over the Mitsu

All MLS gaskets have a 'spring back' function by nature, when clamping it tight between two surfaces. The Felpro has the highest amount of spring. The Mitsu MLS is rated in between the Felpro and Cometic.

With you average 300 or 400 WHP DSM, you wouldn't notice the difference between the Felpro and Mitsu MLS gaskets. For for the 700+ WHP guys that have extremely high cylinder pressures, the Felpro gasket is superior and can make a difference.

Me on normal ARP with cometic head gasket still kicking till today with 200 over dyno run and 20 more beating on the track and weekend at 40psi. The tune is more important to make thing last. With e85 you will survive but i doubt it with pump gas.
