1G Other Timing belts fit?

I have a 92 tsi with 6 bolt 4g63t in it and i was wondering what timing belts fit it like will an evo 8 or evo 9 belt work?

Get the belt designed for your car. No matter how much Kevlar shit your belt has in it, change it at the factory required intervals, okay?

USE OEM! The EVO belt prob. doesn't fit anyway. I wouldn't bother with Kevlar belts either until you are making a lot of power. They still should(need) to be changed at every 60k miles or when you take the belt off. Do not go cheap with the belt and buy an autoparts store. Just stick with what is made for your car by the manufacturer.

OK thanks for the info i had a lot of mixed messages and i was told by someone that the evo belts were stronger that's why i asked and i bought the car with a blown head gasket with 77k on it and im gonna change the belt now because im doing all the maintenance before i start to build it and its cheap insurance.

If you want a stronger belt, just get a kevlar belt for the car. You still need to change it at 60k mile intervals because they can still break. Once oil gets on them you will want to change it as well as it will cause the belt to weaken/stretch and then break.

Ya that kit sounds good but im a little sketchy on how easy it is going to be to remove the balance shaft, don't i have to remove the transfer case and the oil pan?

Here is the BS elimination procedure. You'll need to take off the front case and I think the oil pan as well. It's best to do it with the motor out but many have done it with the motor in.

Yep it can be done with the engine in the car, tonnes easier with it out.

Thanks for the info I'm gonna start on tearing it down today it shouldn't be hard since the head is off and the timing belt and cover are already removed I'll keep everyone posted
