Aright guys, I'm installing my evo 3 16g in a couple of hours, with the extreme psi install kit. OTHER THAN the writeup on vfaq, is there any other install guides? Already looked in the tech guide without much luck. Thanks.

Im pretty sure its the same as the 14b turbo install....when I did my install with the 14b I just unbolted everything, cleaned up anything that needed cleaning. I had the turbo bolted to the manifold already along with the o2 housing and oil and coolent lines hooked up. So it was pretty simple I thought..... you can do it with ease. Just make sure you dont tighten your exhaust nuts to tight...I broke 2 off when I did it :( .......good luck

Id just use the vfaq. It works the best. The installs not too bad. Just make sure you take your time...follow the vfaq. The biggest thing for me was the oil return line. Make sure its on good and doesnt leak. Also drain everything before the install to make life easier. Disconnect the battery so you dont end up with a blown alternator fuse like i did. Other than that its pretty easy.

And finally port the crap out of your turbo. I ported mine with an air die grinder and carbide bit. You can use an electric die grinder too. Get a carbide bit/burr trust me... Also dont use a dremel for big chunks. Takes too long. Just use to to polish. Good luck. PM me if you need help.

A turbo swap, especially going to a direct bolt-on 16G is typically pretty self-explanatory. Some things to note is to make sure you use brand new return line gaskets and torque them down so that they dont leak...and if you are reusing your existing lines (though I usually always use new oil lines for some turbo companies will not honor a warranty w/out showing proof that you purchased new ones), to clean them and take off all the junk on the flanges. Everything else, just follow the vfaq instructions as described. This may also be a good time to flush your coolant if you havn't done so already and fill with fresh water/coolant.

Good luck.

Spray a ton of pb blaster on all of the exhaust manifold nuts and turbo bolts, including the ones in the o2 housing. Let that soak overnight at least. I did mine for about a week before the install b/c I'm paranoid. Drain the oil and coolant. Remove the intake and lower IC pipe while they're draining. Then go after the exhaust manifold nuts. Luckily for you, you shouldn't have to move your PS pump out of the way to get to all of them. Hopefully none of those broke off, just remember to go slow with a small socket or wrench so you're not using so much torque that they just snap. Then remove the oil and coolant lines from the engine side. Unplug the o2 sensor from the connector. Then you can probably pull everything out at one large piece if you remove the downpipe nuts, or you could do the turbo bolts if you don't have a vice or something to hold it in. After you're ready to bolt everything up, make sure the lines on the turbo are tight b/c there is limited space once the turbo is in place with the manifold and everything, except for maybe the front water line. Bolt the oil return line to the turbo before putting it in to make your life easier. Be sure to get new gaskets and crush washers also. Might be stuff I'm forgetting, but this is basically what I did. Oh, and do some porting while everything is off. :)
