####,
Well I have been debating on a 3076 or 35r for a while now. I finally decided to go with the 35rhta from FP. I just wanted to see if anyone else on here is running this turbo and what their thoughts were on it.

This summer the car is going to stay on stock internals but I think next seasons downtime is going to see atleast forged internals or a stroker.

Boosted98gsx runs one, from the looks of it (pics in his gallery), he runs it in a T3 turbine housing instead of FP's turbine housing.

Almost forgot about this thread.

Anyways it should be here within the next week I hope. I got the manifold, o2 housing, dump tube and wastegate in from punishment the other day.

Yup, but the 3582HTA is only a T3 turbine, hence the "82" for the .82 a/r turbine.

I love this turbo man. Full boost at 4200 and you will still get + pressure in the 2k range. Makes for a very good daily driver torque curve (when coupled with a 2.3) and the top end is AMAZING.

^^ So I take it you have your's punched out to a 2.3?

I am staying with a 2.0 on this block and maybe something bigger by next season.

The "82" in 3582 has nothing to do with the turbine housing, it's how Garrett designates their turbos based on series (35) and compressor wheel exducer (82). In fact, the turbine housing isn't even included with the turbo, you technically order it separately under a different part number.

Then the 3582 from FP is a misnomer because their exducers are much smaller than the 56 trim variants on the standard GT35R

*EDIT* I believe FP calls it the 3582HTA because it only comes in an .82 a/r turbine.

I know their inducers are like 3mm smaller than a standard 35r, are you sure the exducer is different too? They offer it in several housings other than the .82 T3, including their bolt-on housing & divided T3s. They're certainly confusing people by retaining the Garrett designation for this turbo while changing their larger HTA to a proprietary name.

Well Monday I will be calling FP and canceling this order. Their fault or not I have had my order in for a month and a half and still no signs of it coming in.

I guess I will be looking at a bog warner turbo since FP can't seem to come through on their turbo's and this is a shame since everyone seems to love FP so well.

That's the funny part about FP. They have so many damn names it's like trying to climb a family tree for the right nomenclature. LOL

Did they give you any clue as to what the wait is for? I mean, are they waiting for parts like housings or wheels to come in, or are the FP guys just falling behind on final assembly, or what?

Hey, there's been mass confusion right from day 1 about the turbine a/r and the housings available for this turbo. If you are interested, here is a thread on a 2 liter car using the HTA35R with a .63 a/r turbine housing. I think it's using the 4-bolt style T3 outlet. You can see the bottom end performance is very strong for a big turbo on a 2 liter. The thread doesn't actually say it's a .63 ar. The owner, Marque, didn't know what the a/r was when I first contacted him. But I sent him a pic of how the a/r number is cast into the surface of the housing. He confirmed for me a few days ago that his is a .63 a/r.

You will not regret our conversation today. :thumb:

X2.

You would be amazed how many people mistake that. For Garrett, the first 2 letters and 2 numbers designate the family of the turbine wheel. ie GT28, GT30, GT35, GT40 etc.
For example, you can tell a GT4294 and GT4202 share the same turbine wheel, but the 02 has a bigger (102mm) compressor wheel. The last 2 letters designate the compressor wheel's EXDUCER in mm. :thumb:

Outside the USA, people mostly use the compressor exducer dimensions.
