So what your saying is that just because Optima got bought out they make crappy batteries now??? how long ago was that????

I am not sure when they were bought out but I want to say a few years ago. My buddy at Batteries Plus would know. And yeah companies get bought out and quality goes down. Ever heard of Gateway computers? Just one example off the top of my head. Not great comps to begin with but man did they get shitty after Acer bought them. I am sure I will think of quite a few more companies as the days go on.

:hmm: Hmmm thats interesting news......

LOL. I honestly didn't expect this much love/hate over a post. I haven't been able to go to Sams Club yet. Damn winter storm. I agree with most of you that Optima has a very poorly designed product and that even though I can mount the battery on its side if I wanted to, it dieing after 8 months is complete BS. I should have done my homework before I bought an optima rather than listen to the ads and autozone people. Thanks for all the info again boys and girls!!

Hey. I swapped out the optima redtop for a energizer wet cell with oem specs. The car turns over just fine now, but the timing belt apparently wasn't installed correctly. :ohdamn: I'm working on that tomorrow. Thanks everybody. :thumb:

If an optima sits for a while, not being cranked/charged it will die.

The good thing is that since it's not that old, you can take it back to wherever you bought it and get it exchanged out for free.

I swapped out two red top Optima's within a period of two years for new ones because they died from sitting for a while. I eventually ran close to the end of the three year replacement and got a $100 credit and bought an autozone battery with the money and it came with a 5-year free replacement.
