I need a few or your opinions. Ive done all I can with the stock motor as far as bolt on are concerned have been in the head and bottom end. I have finally killed the head gasket and probably cracked the block. So, short of having a machine shop in my garage, I am now looking at finding a reputable DSM builder to do the rest of the work. So, I need opinions. Who do you feel would be great to handle a full rebuild to handle around 500whp? I already have a stage III short block from slowboy on my engine stand and looking at probably a stage II or III cylinder head. If this is the wrong section to post this thread then I apologize in advance to Chris for posting it here but I was just looking for opinions from the rest of the community that have gone into the engine internals as well. So, thanks in advance guys!

ffwdconnection.com is a good one it seems like thats all they focus on. On the other hand JAM Jackson Auto Machine would be good too. I cant say, sadly, I've had any experience from them but as a cautious consumer those would be my two top pics. Sam

If you were full bolt on I would think you could do better than mid 13's. I had almost full bolt-on's minus a Gm-MAF Blow Thru setup and was into the mid 12's. I was also on stock everything. Stock internals and headgasket. Only think that wasn't stock was the intake and exhaust manifold. You can go really far with bolt-on's and a 16g. I would think about reanalyzing what it means to have all of the bolt on's. I also have never heard of anyone cracking the block from a simple headgasket failure. Seem highly improbable to me. You can put whatever stage head you want on the car but unless you upgrade turbo, fuel and intake you will never see the full potential of that motor.

I have also done mid 12s on a complete longblock... stock cams, rods, pistons, both manifolds, etc. I ran a high 12 on a bigT28 and stock injectors. You can do alot on stock internals if done properly and not taking corners. Good luck in your quest for 500whp. Its not as easy as everyone thinks it is.

1gfromND, thanks for the info, I was wondering who ffwd was as I have read some posts on them already. I'll look into it. Again, my thanks.

95bLaCkGsTuRbO, I know full well the potential of the stock longblock. That 13 second timeslip was a few years ago with just an intake, downpipe, and catback on that stock T25. There's been quite a few mods since then, but no timeslips. No longer am I going to take the car to the track till after the car is fully set up and tuned right and on a AWD dyno, not just the FWD's that are around here. As far as re-analyzing, that is what I have done, and why I have come to my conclusion to build it fully. What's the point of having a turbo with the potential to reach 600hp if the block can only take about 450hp, give or take a few? Heck, Ive had to de-tune it just to drive it as I have on the street with that turbo when there is so much more potential in it. If you look on the vehicle profile, it was updated the day I posted the question. The last time it was updated was 2003 I do believe. Ive had most of my parts in an extra room in my house simply waiting. Do it right or do it twice, right?

4G63-GST, I have helped plenty of friends reach mid 12's with the BigT28 and the 16g setup on stock longblocks, so, I know that route. I also know the degree of difficulty to reach 500whp and it be reliable.

Gentleman, I am no newbie to this tuning scene. This is my second DSM. 80,000 miles on a 99 will tell you how much I drive it. Ive had honda's and acura's as well. Supercharged, turbo'd, whatever. Even, heaven forbid me say this, played with working on all motor 10 sec mustang for bracket racing. I am just looking for opinions on full motor building and assembly. I know what bolt-ons can and can not do, thus the proposed question. Thank you in advance for the relating replies.
