ECMlink opening dsmlink on macbook..which port

I no longer have access to a Mac (I only borrowed one for a few days to port the serial stuff over and fix the RXTX library bugs). So I can't tell you the step-by-step details. But the basic process involves making SURE you have the drivers installed for our cable and then watching syslog while you install/uninstall the cable to see which port its creating for you.

Typically, the port name will be something like:

/dev/ttyUSB0

Also, make sure you're running at least MacOS 10.4 or greater.

but dsmlink doesnt do anything when i try them all and i cant get it to open
It would also help to have a clearer description of the problem you're having. What does "can't get it to open" mean, for example? Are you getting an error message? If so, what is it? If not, please describe the exact steps you're taking and the exact screens you're seeing so we can "see" what you're seeing.

And, finally, consider that it's always possible there's a wiring issue in the car. Have you been able to successfully connect anything else to the ECU in the car before? For some tips on what we've seen before regarding connection issues, scroll down to the "1G Notes" section of this page:
