I can see a loss in mpg do to the missing o2 senssor.

Has anyone tried putting a muffler where the cat is, that might deal with the sound issue and if you weld on a o2 bung that might solve the gas issue as well. Just a thought.

My friend with a dodge spirt r/t did that, and got 4 more psi of boost off the system. No cat though.

While on the subject of gas mileage, when I put in my 255lph pump and jumped on it I swear on my gokart I saw the fuel gauge drop a good portion. It gave me a good chuckle as I was doing well over 100 on the highway.

i'm not saying that this is the case with most people, but whenever you go from quiet to loud exhaust, you are more apt to put your foot into the pedal more than before.

I know that on most every vehicle i've had, i noticed a loss of mpg whenever i took the exhaust off, but it was only because i put my foot into it more to hear my loud exhaust. ;)

did anyone else hit fuel cut with open downpipe? my shit would just spike really high and hit fuel cut. Even with the Boost source going straight to the wastegate. and routed normally. It will boost normal and not hit fuel cut with exhaust hooked up.

Do you guys ever have to worry about heating up bellow the car? My freind has a 96 TSI AWD, and hes basicly stock (intake, bov, mbc, clutch) and has stock exhust, and would like to drop it when we goto the track (about an hour away) and do you think it will casue problems?

i did it once just to see how it is.. its cool for a sec.. but its too loud.. annoying for me.. and im sure for the neighborhood.. dont do it.. get urself an o2/wastegate dump if uwant loud that u can control depending if u boost..

I ran an open dp for close to a year. It's loud and sometimes gets annoying, but the power gains are incredible. I didn't want to spend the ridiculous ammount of money that these vendors want for damn piping, so I made it free. If you have a passenger in the car, don't plan on having a conversation with them while you're on your way to dinner, you can't hear shit.

Although I loved the sound, especially spooling up/down. Definitely sounds mean. I finally picked up a thermal research 3" exhaust w/ test pipe for $220. I love the sound, but I'm still going to go with an o2 dump, because I miss the antagonizing sound.

They're talking about running an open downpipe. The o2 sensor that does the A/F adjusting is in the o2 sensor housing which is before the downpipe.
